Btw boxing has no weight limit, why does MMA have to have one?

Boxing seems fine without a limit, you see guys fighting there. Zhilei Zhang weights 282 lbs and he's quite athletic.
I don't think Zhang is athletic but 282 lbs isn't that extreme regardless. I don't mind the UFC raising the limit to 280-285.

Well, if we start to see these specimens who are like 6'8", 300+ lbs and very athletic, then by all means change the rules and give them a chance.

But until then, there's no point removing the limit. Because this hypothetical fighter hasn't arrived yet.

We'll never know if there not looking for it if there is a cut off at HW. Look at boxing there perfectly fine with no limit and the boxers who are heavy are still very skilled.

This is just takes away any chance of anyone not making weight and still have a good skills as a fighter.

That's a fair consideration indeed. Raise to that cut off weight, I'd be happy with that. 265 lbs is too low for guys like Struve imo.

If there's a guy who is 300+ lbs and very athletic, odds are he'd be playing the NBA or NFL and not fight for a living.

But yeah... they can raise the limit to 280-285 at least. Even if someone weighs 300+, they can still cut down to that.

That's all good. I'm cool with that.

Makes no difference if you have a fat fuck under 265 or 350lbs. But if there's any giant 7ft guy who's shredded at 350lbs then were missing out on a potential fighter.

Yes it makes no sense to have a limit for HW, especially considering how often they sign flabby to downright fat ass dudes nowadays.

Don't want to have a 300lbs tub of lard waddle in the Octagon? Ok, don't sign him.

If the guy can't fight, they won't sign him. That's just common sense. But if he can fight, why not sign a guy who doesn't have to cut weight? Let's see the best of biggest monsters fight. I want to see it and it seems so far most do on here.

The problem is it will lead to circus fights where fighters simply try to use a weight advantage on the ground. SHW division could be answer.

That's fine, that's part of the appeal not having a weight limit. You want to see a David vs. Goliath situation. Just like how Fedor fought HMC.

Sure but I think there is "point of diminishing returns" on endurance what you get that big. I think most HW's could just outlast any SWH for most of the first round before the latter is exhausted.

Yes, that's fine. That's part of the game if the endurance is not up the par than that's the nature of the beast. That's why it would be interesting to see if the small guys beats the monster. I want to see a guy like how Fedor fought a guy like HMC but even more skilled than HMC.

But even if you are right, we never know until we see it. I just don't understand argument against this. We just want to see the biggest best fighters out there fight. I'm not talking about guys who can't fight and just looks like crap. But guys that can actually go and be 300+ lbs.

I say remove the limit and see what happens. I mean, don't let in any Zulu sized dudes, but people who are still athletic at a heavier weight. Get someone like Brain Shaw in the UFC, 6'8" and 400lbs lol.

Of course there shouldn't be a weight limit for HW. Functionally, it wouldn't make a huge difference, since very few elite athletes are too big to make 265. But there certainly are some, and the concept of a HW weight limit is absurd.

Yes, that way Tai Tuivasa doesn’t have to cut and can fight at 350lbs of pure fat
Sounds like a new meta build. get squashed bro! Belly fat subs gonna be makin people black out left and right.
