Yeah, they should teach ASL and FSL since they are similar

I am aware there is some differences in sign languages, but it sort of makes sense for everyone globally to learn the same sort of basic communication. Or am I missing something?

Schools should first teach English properly before trying to teach a second language. The language skills of the kids these days make Sherdoggers in the HW look like Shakespeare

I'm not mad at this. Will probably solve a lot of accent issues as well.

Nah, they should teach mandarin or something like Spanish as second languages.

If kids should be all taught something extra, it's teach them to not believe retarded bullshit on the internet. It's pathetic that so many adults are dumb as fuck.

Mandarin?
Really?
ummm second most spoken language in the world should (and is used all over the world in the in business world too) perhaps be higher up the list than sign language.

if you think sign language deserves to be thought, then you should believe braille should be thought in schools too.

I'll just throw some pots and pans.

I don't know about that mate, I have travelled quite a bit and I am working for a global company. I never have had any use for mandarin, even when doing business in Asia.

I think the obvious choice for global communication is English, in most countries you can get by with it and if you can't they most likely don't speak mandarin. For me as a non native English speaker the priority is second language english and third language whatever you think is fun or countries close to you. I chose german which in retrospect might not have been the best choice, spanish, french or italian would have been more useful as almost all germans speak at least a bit of English.

Just because it is above sign language does not mean it should be top 5.

No. With the advances in technology sign languages will become obsolete in our lifetime.
Also sign language is not universal, lol. There is sign English, sign French, sign Russian, etc etc.

No, but Spanish should be taught every year through High School. It is just a reality. Other countries do two languages, so should we. The issue is we have such a large portion of kids from inner city areas that can't even grasp the core classes and get pushed along anyway. This would just be another waster for them.
