Shoop SHOOP Dat BIGWAVERIDER R.I.P. Brother

Hahaha. I would do it, but Arq will be able to do a far better job than me. Good Idea.

I don't know about that bud, you do awesome work. Take a crack at it if you aren't busy. I'm working on about 5 things at once here so if you have time you will probably get to it before me.

Did you use a dissolve effect and reverse it?
Nope, it's a particle simulation. I converted the image into thousands of seperate particles using an emitter, then used a 'force' effect in a negative configutarion to draw the particles into that point on R2D2. Then I used a 'kill' effect line to kill the particles once they reached R2D2. I then rendered the particle simulation and then, as you said, reversed the rendered simulation. It was pretty easy.

I was originally going to have BWR drawn into a bottle, turning into a liquid and filling the bottle up with his particles, but thought that it's not really appropriate for this thread, so came up with the idea of having him being fabricated out of that tube thing on R2D2. I thought it was a cool idea, and probably unique.
The bottle thing would have looked cool if I could find a way to make the particles settle down - perhaps I'll come up with something to use it for in the future.

Cool stuff bud. I've seen similar stuff done in After effects but with a dissolve effect and then a bunch of different effects to make it look like a hologram. So it projected out like yours but then had the appearance of a hologram on the screen.

Davinci Resolve has some cool effects man and I like the idea of using nodes. I may give it a shot and see if the workflow is easier than AE.

The bottle thing sounds cool as too bud you should definitely give that a go.

I was originally looking for a difuse effect because in Affinity Photo theres an effect called 'difuse' which looks really cool, but it's not animatable - it's static. So I was trying to find something similar in Davinci Resolve, but found that this sort of thing was done using a particle simulation.
Davinci Resolve is really easy to learn, so if you do give it a go, it will be fast and easy to try.
But After Effects is the industry standard, so you can't go wrong there, but Davinci Resolve has been far less buggy and more reliable for me than both After Effects and Premiere Pro. Plus you don't have to switch between different softwares - Davinci Resolve does it all in the one piece of software.
Here's the particle simulation using your avatar, and not reversed...

I think AE has more to it as far as effects and stuff are concerned and it also has a free version of Mocha that I really like and use a lot, also with the Adobe dynamic link going between AE and Pr is easy, and same with updating anything in PS if you want to work on something and then save, it automatically updates in AE.

I like the idea of nodes though as it makes your workflow a bit easier. I've been learning Blender and enjoying the nodes aspect so I like that about Resolve. From what I have seen with Affinity and Resolve they look more user-friendly and better for people just starting. I know a lot of people have switched over from Adobe stuff too so I'll definitely look into it when I get a chance. Maybe I will switch over completely too :D

I know @Otto! is using Resolve and he loves it.

I'm intrigued to see what you are going to think of Resolve. I know what you mean about the dynamic link between Adobe softwares, because the same thing happens in Autodesk Maya - when you modify a file in one program, it automatically updates Autodesk Maya with the modified version of the file.
What would normally you use Blender for?

Yeah, it's a really handy feature. I edit all my videos in Pr then take them into AE to shoop them. I do a lot of the work in PS first too.

I was learning how to model and sculpt. I want to be able to make my own assets for PS art and drawing as I've used 3D models in the past for stuff and instead of searching the internet for a picture of something that matches the perspective and what I'm looking for I can just make my own.

I got sidetracked with Blender though as I really got into drawing and painting so I focused on that for a while and didn't spend as much time in Blender. There is too much stuff to learn bud and not enough hours in the day :p

Nice one - I thought you must have done 3d in Blender. I learned Maya for years as a hobby, and got into modeling, sculpting, texturing, lighting, rendering, softbody dynamics, rigid dynamics, animation, character rigging, inverse kinematics, fluid dynamics, materials, shading, etc etc etc.
But, as you said, it's very time-consuming, so I haven't done it in a few years. I could do 1000 projects in Davinci Resolve to every 1 project in 3d. And in 3d a big project can take 2 days just to render.
But learning 3d did give me the experience to know how to approach learning a new piece of software, and I think that's why I could pick up this shooping stuff quite fast.

I love Resolve, but I'm an old dog who takes a long time to learn new tricks, so I only use a tiny portion of the options.
