Shogun "pride rules safer than unified rules"!

Fighters will be able to take way more elbows than kicks or stomps to the face, thus prolonging fights and taking more long term damage from continuous elbows. Kicks/ footsies to the head of a down opponent is Way too violent for the mainstream MMA , as beautiful and pure as it is during a contest, it will only ever be apart of the early sadist Japanese MMA scene....god bless them. Shogun was an absloute beast in his mid 20"s, smashed them all

Lmao Jones would be able to soccer kick and stomp.

I didnt think Jones could be more dominant in that fight but jesus... Pride rules he would have killed him.
 
Pride shogun was one of the best grapplers as well n he would td guys n beat them up on the ground

In ufc he’s simply not gonna be in position to soccer kick/stomp opponents as he’s too small for lhw n can’t grapple with 205 wrestlers.

Jones only fought opponents that are practicly blind from the eyepokes, and then still needs roids on top of that against 40+ year washed up notrt fighters. sounds to me like a bum.

True. Shogun thrived with these rules and actually trained them. You can't just throw soccer kicks willy nilly, you ever see it when they miss? They all unbalanced and usually get taken down, you gotta make sure you land when you wind up for a soccer kick or stomp, missing a stomp could get youjr leg grabbed and you get heel hooked back in the day. Miss pride rules

Shogun is the one who was usually throwing the stomps and soccer kicks. So lmao of course he considers them safer! It’s a lot safer to kick someone in the face then to be elbowed in your own face.
 
Let's ask the opinion of some of his victims in Pride.... If they can still remember that part of their lives
 
Elbows definitely cause tons of damage and cuts. Probably less overall than stomps/soccer kicks would.

But as many have said they won't be viewed in a positive light by the public ever. But they do need to allow knees to the head of a grounded opponent. Fights would be much better.
