Elections Sherrod Brown not running for President

It's too much of a name recognition deficit to overcome. You just don't want to admit it for whatever reason. Sherrod Brown dropped out because he realizes he would have got beaten as badly as Walter Mondale.

Ok, so you'll just repeat the dumb point. Got it. And how do you know what is in Brown's head anyway?

The Dems also had that view in 2016, look how that turned out.

Yeah no shit. I'm just telling you that lots of people don't agree with you that Trump is invincible.

P.S.

That's President Trump to you.
Should we check your posting history to see if you addressed Obama as "President" every time? Stop being so lame.

"Trump" has been a household name since the early 80's.

Brown is a relative nobody who would have to introduce himself to the vast majority of American voters.

Don't kid yourself into thinking Sherrod Brown had any chance of beating President Trump. Hence why he dropped out.
Nobody knew who Obama was, either.

I put him in the category of:

"Will lose to President Trump on name recognition alone."

The vast majority of the American public will read the name Sherrod Brown, and collectively ask "Who?".
just reading the thread title I thought it was the broward county vote fixer

I’m from Cleveland and the mood around here was he was definitely running. Rumor was he was announcing it today, so you can imagine all of our surprise when we heard he’s not in.

He almost certainly cut a deal with someone to stay out, with who I’m not sure. He’ll be a VP pick.

Yeah but that was his whole appeal. A new young black senator from Chicago who was going to change everything for the better.
ITT I was told unknown has no chance against name recognition. Like, how would anybody ever figure out he's black and going to change stuff?

If you're implying it's a black thing, then I'd guess being unknown is a bonus for a white guy named "Sherrod Brown" .

It's not a "black" thing or an unknown thing. It was his whole package. No one at the national level knew who he was. That is not really disputable. "Hope and change" would not have worked as well for a 75 year old career politician.

You cant really try and sit here and pretend Obama had the kind of media attention that someone like Kamala has today. He was an unknown.

If you are going by what 1 poster said about name recognition mattering versus trump and try and make that a paradigm for every former and future candidate you are ignoring what the poster said, intentionally.

Because it's true. The fact that the name of President Trump is more recognizable than the name of Brown is more valid than your personal feelings about Sherrod Brown.

President Trump will win reelection. Virginia will flip.

B-Bu-But Obama!

What the hell are you talking about? I asked how you knew what was in Brown's head.

No one cares about your cheerleading.

You're such a hack Jesus.

I'm not ignoring anything, here's the post I responded to:

Where does he say anything that I ignored? Why couldn't a guy like Sherrod make a name for himself in the excruciatingly long American Presidential Election Season reality show? How does name recognition help Trump now that he's been president long enough to secure the approval rating of irritable bowel syndrome?

I bet this means Biden is in. Which I don't like at all.

I also think it means Biden is in (maybe even Beto). I’m not a big fan of that either. Brown could’ve been informed and that’s why he’s not in. Or he may have a deal with someone like Harris to stay out for the VP offer. He’s basically a better Tim Kaine. He probably would’ve won in Pennsylvania , Wisconsin , Michigan , maybe Ohio (ironically enough). Or at least one or two of them, he’s a Midwesterners wet dream.

It’s at least one of those two scenarios.

Sherrod is too weak of a speaker to win the nomination and doesn't have the brand/machine behind him like Hilldawg did. He was the one I was most interested in and think he could have guided the conversation to the right topics in the primaries, but he had no shot.
