Great win by Big Gav, can't wait to see him at world's.

Honourable mention to Pa O'Dwyer, he had an equipment malfunction in the first event, truck pull, where the mats were coming up under his feet. Partially tore his bicep, but would have won the whole competition if that equipment hadn't fucked him. Pa is coming on strong af and is the funniest strong man hands down. He has a good Instagram feed.

He should have been in worlds this year, he was planning to win UK's to prove a point. I'm gutted for him.

world record by a 55 plus year old man.

Damn right. He owned the record at 505kg, I think it's obvious he could have lifted more this time too. His mechanics at the top of the deadlift are literally GOAT status, a 55yr old plasterer from England.

Doesn't like swearing, family man, never says a bad word about anyone. Honestly he is an absolute legend and I don't see anyone beating him for peak performance over time in my lifetime.

Pa is really good. He'll make a comback and get a spot at WSM in the future. No doubt about it.

Also big props to Andy Black who came in tied for 2nd place. He's only been training for 2 years and he's already putting up great shows and big numbers. His big weakness at the moment is his pressing, but he'll have time to fix that.

One and two are lean imo, the rest are stacked.

Feels like Brian got a Hook up , but be is also one of the oldest competitors in the field if not the oldest so it feels strategic by the organizers to get one of the Fan Favorites into the Final

I think 1 is a lot tougher than people will give credit for. A lot of it is name value where people that aren’t familiar with the sport won’t think it’s hard but Graham is an absolute monster one of the statically strongest guys in the entire show, maxime is fantastic, he’s very strong & very fast. aivars has performed VERY well lately and was a finalist. Just came 3rd at WUS. Ortmeyer is washed but it’s no easy group

Group 2 Trey Evan & Tom is ridiculous. Two of the best stone lifters in the world + Evan is VERY strong and made the final but got injured last year. He’s tenacious as all hell and definitely coming to win. He’s going to surprise some people here.

I actually think group 4 is the easiest by a country mile. Terry & janashia are completely washed up, chris is nowhere near competitive with these guys. This is an easy W for jerry & Adam.

Group 5 is going to be a HARD fought heartbreaker. Some great guys in there aren’t going to make it. Ridiculous heat.

I just want to see who’s getting what events and it will be easier to call these finalists.

Totally agree with your analysis, group 1 is a very competitive lineup.

Heat events are a selection from the following list:

Frame carry to loading medley

Axel Squat for reps, expect tactics here.

Especially as followed by Deadlift for reps!

Fingles fingers,

Train pull.

Overhead medley

Pickaxe hold

Stone off, up to 210, if both get to that then it's until failure!

I expect some brutal match ups with these heats, can't wait!

Agreed on Maxime, but unless he's gotten better on the stones I can't see him making it to the final. I see heat one Being Brian and Hicks, but Aivars making it through would not surprise me.

My unofficial picks to make it to the final are:
Heat One: Brian Shaw and Graham Hicks
Heat Two: Tom Stoltman and Evan Singleton
Heat Three: JF Carron and Luke Richardson (sorry Obbie)
Heat Four: Adam Bishop and Terry Prichett
Heat Five: Luke Stoltman and Gav Bilton

I have roughly 5% confidence in these picks

For some reason I don't feel confident in Shaw this year, the past year he's looked flat and his weight loss smacks of clutching at straws.
