Sherdog Strongman discussion thread- Strongman classic looms

This is just built off of the Animosity they have had through the years. I wish they still had the fire to compete as Strongman, its rather surreal that both of them only have 1 WSM title each, especially Thor some of his near losses to Big Z or Brian were due to lack of Focus and Big Z being clutch in the Years Thor Finished second to them .

I think for both of them part of the issue is their physical training each had some issues with the log and the atlas stone especially in Eddies case. Thor was a beast at the car lift and the dead lift obviously but in other areas struggled also he kept putting on size making it harder for him with the more endurance events. The interesting thing about Thor he has not ruled out returning to Arnold's but WSM is really out he may make an effort at the Dubai based promotion because he has a very good relationship but Eddie is done. But expect a much leaner Thor going to these events he had no problem apparently even with the cut doing 780 for reps on deadlift.

That's weird . The Arnold's is heavier than WSM and you have to be more Mobile in WSM now anyways so figure if Thor went back to Strongman he might gain back 30-50lbs ish to be competitive I doubt he would go back if he wasn't going to challenge for a Podium spot.

I know why its happening I just don't really care about it. The cynic in me thiks the beef is played up a little to hype the event too

I've heard that they aren't buddy buddy, but signing up to fight each other seems like a cash grab. I guess while they are still popular they need to get all the money that can get. I can't think of many strongman that that don't fall off into obscurity once there strongman career ends.

Thor said as much but he is taking this seriously because he never received over 1 million for anything in his life. He even said there is potential for a lot more.

I haven't seen any discussion here on Pavlo Nakonechnyy. One of the best prospets in the entire strenght world right now. He's only 23 years old, 410 lbs and he's gonna attempt a 505 kg deadlift at the deadlift championships.

Some of his recent deadlift sets:
425kg 4 reps 2 sets

435 kg 3 reps 2 sets

400kg 6 reps, casually tying the world record for reps in training with more left in the tank

Being as big as he has I guarantee no one has ever squared up to him because of sheer size. Really makes you appreciate the toughness and skill of guys that are in Combat Sports damn near all their lives.

I did not like Matt's commentary he sounded like he was hired by Eddie Hall. He does not⁸ understand that Thor was pacing himself>
knowing he had to not run into cardio problems was an issue in his first match.
