Was exposed to videos of Fedor beating guys down in Pride in a completely unrelated forum, then lurked here a couple of years and eventually made an account.
I have no idea tbh. I know i was a member of a rap forum that i joined in 03 and me and one of the other guys used to always discuss ufc, boxing and k1, and he probably linked me here and i finally joined in 08
I started lurking in 2011 to keep up to date with news. Back then, I only did it on a computer. Sometime around the time they updated an MMA news app making it buggy and full of ads, I decided to join full time and made an account in 2015 using my phone to post.
I started using the site to track Japanese fighter info in the early 00's (it was a lot harder to find back then).
Didn't join/go to the forums until PRIDE shit started going down (late 06), and only went to the MMA boards to fight about PRIDE vs. UFC (almost no WR, P&M, Mayberry, etc.).
Created new account to post in the social forums, because original account used a real name.
Only legendary thread I got to catch first-hand was "Fuck you guys, I'm no groundhog expert."
Early summer 2006 I was between my third and fourth year of undergrad and I was working a summer job at Home Depot. It was while TUF 3 was airing on SpikeTV. I had a coworker who was a total bullshit artist that claimed he was a professional MMA fighter. He said he was the MFC middleweight champion (despite probably weighing at most 160 lbs) and also claiming that he was trying out for TUF season 4. I told a friend about him and my friend told me I could verify whether or not the guy was in fact an MMA fighter by looking him up on Sherdog’s fight finder. That’s how I discovered the site.
After exploring Sherdog.com a little bit I found my way on to the forums and then made an account. I remember at the time the most popular topic of discussion on the forums was the Pride 2006 Open Weight Grand Prix which was ongoing at the time.
Was a big UFC fan around its inception up until it went dark. Completely fell off. Got back into it during its boom in the early 2000s and somehow came across Sherdog, maybe looking for rankings or something. Lurked in the forums for a couple years then finally decided to join in 2007. Haven't watched UFC or any MMA since probably 2015 (Aldo/McGregor is the last ppv i remember watching). Machida was my favorite fighter. Got turned off by Dana's shady antics, all of the injuries, suspensions, interim titles, etc...
One of my favorite multi-millionaire subreddits got closed a few years back. While going yacht shopping, I stumbled across this site and got some great tips from other posters. I applied for a membership using videos of my bench press and heavy bag work for verification, and now I'm here.
it was a long time ago…I had a shitty dial up internet connection, a Nokia flip phone and a bad attitude. I lurked for over a year before joining, mostly visited the site for old fighter highlight vids at first
Lurked a lot prolly since 2010, according to my profile, and I've no memory of this to confirm, I joined in 2015 but that seems later than I think it is, been on MMA threads first, then went and wasted a reprehensible amount of energy in the shit ocean of War Room before finding Christ and moving to Mayberry. I still go to MMA every so often on bigger fight nights but I don't enjoy it, it's usually to vent over a bad decision or a shit fight. Mayberry is where it's at for me.
