Sherdog Origin story

Heard about it on early episodes of JRE. I joined after several years of lurking here without an account.

Long time member on another karate subforum, it is dying a slow death. Love it there, great group but its quiet. Found sherdog but hated the heavies, mayberry is dope. Lurked for a week then hopped on.

It grabbed me but not in the same way as it did to my lemur homie.

Shout out to all you for making this place fun.

It was the summer of 2006 and I was getting into MMA more seriously. It was actually through looking up fighters records on Sherdog fightfinder that I discovered the forum. I have an account from 2007 that I've never actually used. There were some classic threads on Mayberry that I was able to witness live, like how the Mayberry simped for a Sherdogger's big tittied blonde girlfriend called juicy juggs

I lurked Sherdog until 2020 and made the current account, actually to talk COVID with the shertards in the war room. The next day I woke up and gained height and muscle mass to my current measurement of 6'5'', 255 pounds. The peen remained the same at 10 inches

So after Jones was victorious on Saturday i had kinda realized that ive been following this sport for a long ass time and started remembering my origin story for joining Sherdog.

For those that don't know i started as a low key stocker on these forums way back in like 2009 maybe a little before..i had just started training at Randy Coutures gym here in Toronto canada and i found and use to come on sherdog ( the regular webpage) for one of my absolute favorite things to do following events which was to come find event fight pictures. I use to spend hours going through each fight shot..looking for the impact shots and big moments ..and then i found out about the forum and snooped topics and i never really joined and would just use sherdog for images and fighter records.. before the whole wikipedia stuff ..

Then i finally bite the bullet and joined in like 2012 i believe only to forget my credentials and i wasnt really a forum guy then so i didnt use it alot i dont even remember my original username lol..

Then i came back and never looked back...and oddly enough i dont look up fight pictures anymore...do people even do that anymore?

Whats your Sherdog Origin story??.

UFC 41 was the first ppv i ever bought and watched with my dad , i was following the sport since 2000 once i started to switch off from WWF by catching random Pride FC matches on late at night on some random channel full japanese audio ( i remember thinking wow japanese professional wrestling was really different till i seen a guy get Koed and knew then it was real and i was hooked) and UFC events my dad would buy after i would beg him leading up to tuf 1 i was in my early teens ...after TUF i watched everything i could get my eyes on even back to UFC 1 and brazilian Vale tudo and whatever MMa stuff i could find on ebaumsworld back in the day then YouTube and then Worldstar
I used to come on here way back in the pride days to look up fighters and I'd come on here to watch the UFC weigh ins back when the UFC didn't air weigh ins and you had to watch them on a media site like Sherdog.

I used to search up martial arts related questions frequently like "Bruce Lee vs Ali" for example and Google search results would frequently bring me to this site. I'm an opinionated fella, and I watched some of these old forums and wish I could contribute.

At the time (2015) Ronda Rousey was probably the biggest star in the UFC! I remember I'd go on other forums like IMDB's TUF (when IMDB had a board). I'd see all of these dumbass opinions from casuals who had no knowledge of martial arts or hell... physics. I'd say things like "Ronda Rousey cannot beat up the Rock! He outweighs her by a good hundred pounds and about half a foot!"

No one would listen... I'd be ganged up on, cursed out, called everything but a child of God by people who at the time literally thought Ronda could beat any non-male fighter on Earth!!! I realized I was in the minority in these spaces.

I wanted to be around people who knew the sport outside of Ronda and Conor McGregor, so I joined... been here ever since!

P.S.
I'm sure there are some people here who think Ronda can beat up 'The Mountain' because he isn't a martial artist, but those people are probably in the minority and would be laughed at on this site at least.

Edit 2: He has some small ass feet! Just saying.

Just stumbled upon Sherdog in my high school computer class back In 2002-2003. Back then Sherdog was serious business with all the rules they had implemented and Im sure glad they eased up over the years.

2014. Came here to make fun of MMA. Saw they had a boxing section. Stayed for the boxing section.

I think I joined around 2008 after watching UFC 91, though that account got banned, this was originally my troll account ha ha

I watched most of the first UFCs on ppv and VHS when I was a kid and fell in love with the sport. I don’t remember how I found the site, but when I was in high school I used to come here to obsessively watch the old highlight videos that were hosted here. I think I joined the forum after The Smashing Machine Mark Kerr documentary came out. I was able to find a few of the old sherdog highlight reels on YouTube, great memories…

like many it seems...I was a lurker, 07ish, apparently got very drunk to make an account in 2018 (I assume to be angry about something at someone and probably get immediately banned) but either passed out or had a moment of lucidity....Went to make another one Memorial Day Weekend 2021, found this bad boy existed and the rest is a disgraceful history.

Heard about it from another forum. I don't remember the name. It had a horrible layout, but many fighters went there.
