(Serious) Is anybody still interested in watching the UFC?

Ive honestly lost interest although I still follow the news. It's become overly saturated.

I still watch, but I haven't watched this little UFC in 15 years.

And that was back when I had to watch the same events over and over. haha.

I tuned in time for the Lawler/Colby main event and gave up after a round and a half.

Most events I cherry pick the fights I want to watch --- and there aren't many of them.

LOVE THE UFC ! And yes watch all MMA I possibly can but UFC still the best. Though in the past PRIDE FC was best. Now watch UFC first then watch PFL 2nd. Bellator I record as not in a hurry to catch, and all others I record that I can to watch when nothing else going on.

I'm definitely watching less UFC. Skipping most of prelims where before I watched all TV prelims. Stopped ordering PPV after move to ESPN+ sole PPV source. I also skip most of the watered down main card.

During this same period, I paid multiple times to watch Bellator on DAZN and stayed up really late to watch ONE FC live for free.

Being in Aus the prelims start early in the morning, I used to love waking up early usually hungover, brewing up some coffee and watching some fights. Now I'm like fuck it, sleep in and might watch whatever fights are left.

I have noticed that i do not really care about the UFC anymore... over saturation of wmma...

...I much rather watch RIZIN, these days. Its just more authentic to me.

RIZIN has its fair share of WMMA too though. Are you sure it's not something else that's bothering you?

Yeah true, maybe should have explained myself better. JWMMA has been around for ages, way longer than WMMA has been around in the UFC.

Everything in the UFC is money minded, commercialism at its best , so is their approach to WMMA. I do not get that with JWMMA.

I used to religiously watch every UFC, fight from the early prelims to the main card, all Bellators, and the occasional Rizen, LFA, etc.
Now I just watch whatever's on Saturday between 9pm and 12, usually won't bother to stay up for the main event if the card runs later than that unless I really care about fight.

I don't know what happened, if things just got stale over time or what but I just can't get excited any more. I don't even know how/where to watch Rizin or One FC. There's 5000 fighters in the UFC now, there's just too much going on to follow everything these days and any fight I seem to care about in the UFC gets canceled due to injury or whatever.

I still enjoy MMA but it hasn't been the same since Strike Force and Dream died, and WME took over the UFC.

...and this, whats their roster now? 10000 fighters and 80% of them are identical in their fight style. Imagine a football (soccer) league with 100 teams and each of them are forced to play with the same line up and formation thrice a week. It get stale very quickly.

I used to watch every single event. Now I watch maybe 4-5 a year, if that. I typically just check out the play-by-play as well as the highlights/finishes.

Maybe self expression has something to do with it. In the UFC, the UFC brand is what comes first and everyone else has to bow down to that (and to Dana who is the only one allowed to be a character 'star', well apart from Conman who is now outta the sport anyway). So if you get bored of it you're bored of nearly all of it. In other orgs (but especially ones like RIZIN) the fighters are encouraged to stand out by themselves, have their own style, promos hamming up elements of their persona, etc.

I'm just thinking about the last RIZIN card f.e. which had two women's fights - one of which, the KING Reina fight, was very crap and boring, but she at least has a 'character' which puts the focus on her herself. In the UFC though it'd just be a crap and boring fight between who-the-fuck-are-those-women (nested between other generic who-the-fuck-are-those-men fights).

The other things of course being the rules (the other women's fight had a great knees to a downed opponent finish) and the RIZIN/PRIDE 'big fun show' production vs the UFC's stale 2000s nu metal production.
And nostalgia maybe the main thing for most but ppl won't admit to that (although, if anything, RIZIN feels fresh rather compared to the billion generic cage orgs out there).

I consume just about everything I can: UFC, ONE, Rizin, Bellator, Road FC, Combate America’s, started watching PFL, Pancrase when I remember it’s on (although usually watching the replay, as it’s on at like 1am Sundays for me), ONE Warrior Series puts on some exciting fights, very similar to DDWCS, oh yeah, DWCS, Shooto when they were on Fight Pass, DEEP JEWELS just moved to YouTube, I think that’s it.

Nowadays it's like watching a regular season game of baseball,football..with some teams im not interested in.
Not too long ago it seemed like most cards and especially the numbered events were a playoff game or a world series ,superbowl..
Agreed. UFC has basically gone from sport/spectacle to now there's a glorified low level content provider for ESPN (basically pad as much content as possible to boost ESPN's library no matter how watered down because sports content regardless of ratings is valuable )

Good point

Nunes, Shevchenko, and Andrade are killing it though. I've got no problem with them as champions or with them being featured in the UFC.

I'll watch Bellator (Shout out to my fellow hardcores who catch the prelims! :) ) and OneFc. If the UFC were actually like soccer and have events on the TV for free... That's another story...

Askren lost.
DC is retiring.
MM left.
GSP is gone.

I don't care about the UFC any more.

I know Cejudo is a champ now. But he is just not enough to keep in interested in watching.

Justin Gaethje? I feel like everyone at least likes watching him.
