I think the main thing is O’Malley is one of the most famous mma fighters in the world right now. So I’m confused how he’s not a star according to some.

well, when i think of “star,” i think of someone whose fame kind of transcends whatever they’re famous for. obviously conor sets a high bar, but that’s an example of a star. people know who conor is even if they don’t watch mma. mma just doesn’t produce many people on that level. you could say sean is pretty famous for being an mma guy i guess.

Oh I'm no O'Malley hater, he's one of my favourite current fighters actually. That countdown where they were comparing him to McGregor is too much though, Conor is a legitimate lunatic that was radiating with charisma back then. Sean actually is a pretty humble and normal guy deep down, he is one of the most popular fighters in the UFC right now, but you can't compare that to prime McGregor.

There’s similarities to McGregor but that doesn’t mean he’s as big of a star.

But your post I replied to was about O’Malley being a star. That doesn’t have anything to do with McGregor.

You said they keep calling him a star like they’re trying to will it. But O’Malley is a star. You don’t have to be a megastar like McGregor to be a star. And the ufc overhypes everything so they’ll overhype O’Malley’s stardom but that again doesn’t mean he’s not a star.

Basically it sounded like you were saying he’s not a star which I think is false. Although now you’re using McGregor as the comparison which I think is also not a good baseline.
