So I watched Se7en a few days ago. The movie was released twenty years ago out of curiosity I was searching the internet on alternate theories of the ending. Low and behold I read John Doe makes an appearance at the staircase of the crime scene as the photographer/reporter. I have seem Se7en at least five times before and never picked up on Doe being the photographer. So now I will have to see the movie, again. The finer details make you appreciate classic movies like this even more.

I don't remember who but Denzel or W Smith was suppose to play Freemans character but took another role instead. I haven't see this movie in a long time.

One of my favourite movies of all time.
If i'm ever asked what my favourite films are, that is probably the only one that I could 100% guarantee would always be in the top three.
Not sure how many times I've seen it, but it must be at least 30.

Just so many awesome scenes, great acting, great dialogue, great tension and obviously the stunning ending.

Great ageless picture.

Brad Pitt's character believed the photographer to be John Doe. We don't know if he really was.
But they found the photos in John Doe's appartment and figured the photographer was John Doe.

Weren't they supposed to play Pitt's character? Because Freeman's character is about to retire, it's his last week of work. I think Denzel would've done a terrific job playing Pitt's character, probably even slightly better than Pitt ........although I like it the way it is.

Will Smith on the other hand is an absolute shit actor. Would've probably done his typical "I'm too cool fo yo ass" nonsense, instead of actually BE cool like Brad Pitt, who is superior to Will Smith in every aspect anyway.

Really?

I knew Doe was the photographer from my first watch on.

There's an equally great movie that came out arond the same time - Heat with Pacino and De Niro.

We do know it really was, John Doe said it was him in the final confrontation with Pitt. He said it's amazing what information members of the press can buy, that's how he found the address by posing as a press photographer.
And obviously the photos he took on the stairs were in his room so of course it was him.

There's no question John Doe was the photographer. When you watch that scene again you will recognize Kevin Spacey's voice. He says "hey, I'm workin' here!" or something like that.

I quoted this video probably over 30 times out my 2000+ posts here. Best part of the film and that's saying alot because the film is excellent. I watched se7en over 5 times myself too.

Exactly.

Still my favorite Fincher film.

Alternate ending?

Brad pitt and Morgan Freeman head down to Cancun and sip Mai Tais by the pool.

They tell you in the movie he's the photographer.

I heard a theory that Darth Vader is Luke Skywalkers dad.

THey should re-release the two movies with swapped endings.

Morgan Freeman in his wise man voice "What's in the booooooxxxxxxx????!!!!!" (When he unearths the box under that tree in Shawshank).
