I got in a debate with someone in the Jessica Jones thread about Kilgrave and how I didn't find him creepy enough. Spacey nailed creepy in this film. No super powers, just a messed up dude.
Sorry to be the guy but I must.
I love this movie, I own it and watched it many times.
The big flaw with this movie is that John Doe put so much time and effort into everything right, like he had a guy tied to a bed for a whole year barely keeping him alive and then in his grand master plan he just goes ohh i'll opportunistically kill this cops wife and do all that, surely a killer that meticulous wouldn't just change his whole plan or whatever in the space of a few days

Top 5 fav movie of all time for me. I still remember when I watched it for the first time. It freaked me the fuck out. My gf had never seen it until last year; it was quite fun watching it with her.
I don't remember who but Denzel or W Smith was suppose to play Freemans character but took another role instead. I haven't see this movie in a long time.
I thought it was one of the rare times Pitt nailed it performance wise.
Yeah Denzel Washington turned down Brad Pitt's role.
Guillermo del Toro turned down the chance to direct.
Al Pacino turned down the role of Somerset.
I even heard that Michael Stipe was at one point considered for John Doe!
So I watched Se7en a few days ago. The movie was released twenty years ago out of curiosity I was searching the internet on alternate theories of the ending. Low and behold I read John Doe makes an appearance at the staircase of the crime scene as the photographer/reporter. I have seem Se7en at least five times before and never picked up on Doe being the photographer. So now I will have to see the movie, again. The finer details make you appreciate classic movies like this even more.
what??? you're kidding me ... next thing you will tell me is bruce willis is dead for most of the sixth sense ...
kidding .. yeah man, they mention it in the movie ...
Great post.It is a great film, a masterpiece, but some of the content is to brutal and real for me to enjoy. Trainspotting is another, so good yet so brutal.
i never understood this .. was this guy a lazy bastard? or he just took forever to die?
He didn't die, the only one who didn't. Doe forced him to waste away by confining him to bed. Stopped feeding I think three days before leading the cops to him. Timing was a little off.i never understood this .. was this guy a lazy bastard? or he just took forever to die?
