Silverman admits it is a terrible thing she did. lol. She condemned herself as horrible, yucky and racist.

"I don't stand by the blackface sketch," she told GQ last year. "I'm horrified by it, and I can't erase it. I can only be changed by it and move on."

She added: "That was such liberal-bubble stuff, where I actually thought it was dealing with racism by using racism. I don't get joy in that anymore. It makes me feel yucky."

Horrified huh? Outrage porn much? She admitted it was racist. lol

Wow, she did a full mea culpa and it still wasn't good enough

All of it?

Your take is that this is good because it's hurting people you disagree with politically, even though you know that it was used in a farce that wasn't promoting racism or the use of blackface, and that she obviously shouldn't be "cancelled" over it. It's worse to know that something is wrong and to support it anyway.

I said I don't agree with it, but it's funny/satisfying because the left is eating it's own.

That has nothing to do with context. I'm not criticizing the blackface. I don't care about blackface.

I just think it's funny when people with so many skeletons in their closet like Silverman try to be the moral police. It's like when a closeted gay conservative crusades against gay marriage.

That has nothing to do with context. Just be honest and say you don't like my take because you don't like me. It's fine dude. Every dog has his day.

The thought that the tactics they use to crucify others for their past/current not so woke slip ups will eventually be used against them, doesn't even enter their minds.

This

People in my community always talk about getting your "N***A Wake Up Call" when we start thinking that money and fame will exclude them from racism.

I guess this is Sarah Silverman getting her "Woke" Wake Up Call.

Who didn't see this coming really?

That's not a legitimate "skeleton in her closet" though, according to what you say you believe. But you go along with it anyway, despite knowing better. That's all on you.

Interesting that she should say this:

"Silverman did not name the film but discussed “cancel culture” with Simmons, saying that the current climate had left her feeling fearful. “I think it’s really scary and it’s a very odd thing that it’s invaded the left primarily and the right will mimic it,” adding that she dubs it “righteousness porn”.

"“It’s like, if you’re not on board, if you say the wrong thing, if you had a tweet once, everyone is, like, throwing the first stone,” she continued. “It’s so odd. It’s a perversion. It’s really, ‘Look how righteous I am and now I’m going to press refresh all day long to see how many likes I get in my righteousness.’

. . .

"“There’s a still of me on Twitter in blackface and it’s totally out of context and I tweeted it when Twitter was new and the people who followed me watched that show and it was from that show,” she said. “Now it’s forever there and it looks … it’s totally racist out of context and I regret that
.”

This is a woman who rushed to twitter to declare that city worker street markings to indicate pipe/power line locations were swastikas, quick to blame white nationalists. I entirely believe that she shouldn't have lost work over this - but she has been on the front line of "look how righteous I am" culture. She is, unfortunately for her, reaping what she has been sowing, as she has been there with a bag of stones to be the first one casting them in the past.
Sarah cries out in pain as she strikes you.

Well I agree here but i don’t think you use this all across the political spectrum, what did you think about Trumps shithole comments and Baltimore criticism? Was he being a racist?

They better leave Mac from Sunny alone. Lethal Weapons 5 and 6 were classics.

With Trump it's fairly simple. He's constantly riding the line a millimeter from outright racism, and nobody who isn't a racist does that all the time.

Funny how both Aziz and Sarah are now starting to feel the blowback from their SJW buddies.

Anyways, Silverman has always had controversy with race.

At its best, Silverman's act uses taboo humour to expose the cracks on our supposedly liberal politics. Race is her pet topic and, not surprisingly, is the one that gets her into the deepest water. A joke about an ex-lover goes thus: "I used to go out with a guy who was half black who totally broke up with me because I'm a fucking loser." A pause. "I just heard myself say that. I'm such a pessimist. He's half-white."
...
Silverman has been booed off stage for ridiculing Martin Luther King. She has also been condemned by Guy Aoki, the head of an Asian watchdog group, for telling a gag that culminated in the word ":eek::eek::eek::eek:" on Late Night with Conan O'Brien. Silverman's response was to incorporate the episode into her stand-up. "[Aoki] put my name in all the papers calling me a racist and it hurt," she confessed. "As a member of the Jewish community, I was really concerned we were losing control of the media. What kind of a world do we live in where a totally cute white girl can't say ':eek::eek::eek::eek:' on network television?"

I'm surprised the twittersphere isn't going after Comedy Central. They aired all of this stuff back in the day. They still show old South Park and Dave Chappelle reruns that wouldn't fly today.

And yeah, I'm waiting for Kimmel to apologize too.

I wonder which group is more bothered by blackface, blacks or the whites who wield political correctness as a weapon.

No one is safe from the loony tunes outrage mob.

It's a skeleton in her closet because it's something from her past, that if brought to light in the present, could hurt her. Which is exactly what happened here. My opinion on black face is irrelevant.

You are arguing with me just because it's me. Like a dog with a bone.

I'm arguing with you because this is your thread, and you set the premise that despite it being wrong to retaliate against her for a farcical use of blackface, that it's good to go after her anyway. And you're wrong, so I'm highlighting your bad thinking and shameless rejection of principle.

She shouldn't be fired for a comedy skit. The purpose of the skit wasn't to demean black people as broken down nicely by @Fawlty on post #75. This cycle of trying to fuck with people's livelihoods for wrong think or fucking jokes is pathetic. Every time this happens some ideologue on the left or right declares some sort of victory in these threads, like silencing people or fucking with people's careers is something worthy of celebration. FFS if you don't like someone don't watch their stuff, don't support them. This moral purity test we hold people to is so backwards, people mature, people can change for the better, it's not like she killed anyone or pulled a Cosby. At worst she did a tasteless comedy skit.

Yea I can respect that argument for sure

Nope.

A good example of lack of principles would be how you think every joke is fair game until someone makes a joke at your expense and then you run to the mods.
