Now that said, you can still say these jokes are inappropriate. I think Gunn's tweets were a bit too much personally and I can agree with those who want a public sphere that is held to a higher standard. But I don't think its fair to say they are pushing philia, they are just being edgy and provocative for its own sake. Its fine if you don't like that, personally not a fan of it myself and I'd like to see less of it, but I think we should give them the benefit of the doubt and not assume such sinister motives.

I'm talking about comedians having this bizarre entitlement issue thinking they can say whatever the hell the want, whenever they hell they want without consequences. I have heard a few comedians pull the "comedian card" stating: "You don't get to tell a comedian what is and what is not inappropriate." It reminds me of the identity politics groups who play the race and gender card when they say: "white people don't get to define what racism is" and so on.

Sorry comedians, but you don't get to say whatever the hell you want without consequence. A society determines what is and is not taboo and you have to work intelligently within those limits and boundaries to either push them or avoid them entirely.
