Economy Sam Altman OpenAI founder and CEO now says AI kind of Sucks and is overblown

Just going to drop this here, from futurism

If the AI Industry Fails, It Could Take the Rest of Us Down With It https://share.google/a2tCfn65iolmY60Qn

Though Meta, Amazon, Microsoft, Google, and Tesla are expected to have spent some $560 billion on AI development by the beginning of next year, their collective revenue from AI comes in at a paltry $35 billion. In the first half of 2025, the Atlantic notes, business spending on AI added more to GDP growth in the United States than all consumer spending combined.

It's gonna be interesting.

Not really sure how those mega corps are thinking they're going to dominate a market that is basically gonna be about as obvious a free-for-all as has ever loomed on the horizon.

I can't see AI failing, but certainly some of those companies could - or at least contract massively from the shock.

I love how these people can't make their mind. AI is either the best thing that ever happened to mankind, or is actually meh. I also love the doomsayers that think AI will absolutely kill us all, and soon. Which one is it?!

Sam Altman is a manipulative cunt. He probably said that so the stocks come down a bit to buy more of them.
Seriously fuck Sam Altman.
Also we're fucked onse they start making neuromorphic chips. Musk is aiming for 2029, Altman for 2030.

Drink up that kool-aid I believe in the long term potential by ramming it down our throats is not going remove AI issues. But consumer spending going down right now on its own. Don't you need to work on the problems first?

the end goal are products that have physical capabilities combined with AI, however AI really does suck right now, it's so goddamn dumb in many instances. Altman and his crew are trying to ban self driving vehicles..... until his version comes out. Elon is all in on robots, he's going full force in that direction, and as a Tesla customer, he's already sending out official very professional sales emails on that subject..... however @20K for a robot, it better be good.... Meta is about market capture? Not sure what market Meta is going after, it's a race for the sake of racing it seems.

altman knows that he's behind at this point, he's losing, he's going to get surpassed, he cant handle the big players.

I used A.I to solve a cross word puzzle in one minute. I was disturbed by how much smarter it is than us normies.

Thats not intelligence in a human sense, thats just pattern recognition. We're barely past LLMs maybe being able to count how many vowels are in words.

Didn’t we have “AI” defeat master chess players in the 90s?

AI is great for web developers, designers, bloggers etc but it won't get any better because there are only so many 0s and 1s it can process, there is a physical limit to that shit. You would need to create new computers, perhaps with 0s 1s and 2s to make AI better. An even better option would be quantum computers which aren't real yet and are just bullshit hype but making computers that can work with 0s 1s and 2s is a possibility right now, not in 20 years

That doesn't solve that we've run out of quality training data and are running into physical and economic limits with current silicon.

This is slightly off topic. But people dont understand how much this AI craze is masking the US stock market woes. Companies that produce actual products are in decline because of Trumps trade war policies. An thats not even getting into how the job market has basically flatlined under him and his repeated attempts to enact his own Federal Reserve policies.

Its just a two decade plus continuation of speculation charade involving the tech sectors new buzz word product.

You're trying to play the "I predicted this" card? All I can recall from you posting on the topic of AI is endless videos excitedly hyping A.I.-generated THOTs and how realistic the spoof videos are becoming showing public personalities giving speeches they never gave.
- So. It's possible to do realistic videos? I am asking for a friend, he is asking if he can put prime Bo Derek and Christie Brinkley in a movie!

- Good thing i can alwaysa fall back to hand work.

Yeah, of course. You haven't seen this yet? Teenagers are already using AI and deepfake software to create realistic porn videos of girls they know from their high schools because they have so many photos and videos of the girls they can easily access on social media. That's what the whole Taylor Swift thing was about. Some try to use these for extortion.

They even have an acronym for it. "Non Consensual Intimate Imagery" aka NCII.
