S--t you hate in video games.....

Speaking of merchants...

Can they just make the items in their inventories universal? I always hated having to go to three or four different merchants, just to stock up. Oh' this guy just sells junk items for crafting. That guy over there sells the healing items. The guy at the other side of the map, he sells the armor. Oh', and his brother has a shop just as you enter town. That's where you get your weapons. Oh', there's also a chef around here somewhere. That's where you buy your food. Oh', and one last thing. If you're looking to sell some stuff, these guys don't just buy any old items. You're gonna have to sell your junk at the junk merchant, your items at the items merchant, and so on and so forth. Welcome to Time Waste Town! Enjoy your stay!

That's one element of immersion and realism I could really do without.

Merchants

Oh you got a sword that kills gods?

Heres 50 gold pieces

Always makes me lol

That, and I was playing Witcher 3 the other day and slaying bandits with my Grandmaster-crafted Witcher swords and armour... and the poor bandits have swords that look like shit, but they do a shitload more damage than my swords do?

I mean I still easily kill them, pick up their swords to trade with merchants, and I look at swords in the inventory screen and they say they do +34 damage over my equipped swords.

Lame.

Very lame.

Hours looking for Witcher gear schematics, thousands of gold spent to craft each piece + finding rare ingredients, and.... gee, I should have just killed some fucking bandits and stole their shit.

Forced online DRM is an unforgivable sin which immediately removes any interest i might have developed in the product otherwise.

The whole need for constant rolling combat mechanic is getting a little played out too.

What was the anticipated game that came out years ago that was riddled with this DRM shit? I want to say it was a maxxis game...a Sim- game.

It caused so much uproar that the company, i think, never recovered...

Anyone remember?

It was an EA game i'm pretty sure of it.

Hand holding.
Long agonizing drawn out bullshit i dont fucking care about before you can do anything. (Fallout 3,resident evil 6)
Forcing you to go online to play/save (gta 5)
Not being able to switch to a different character class without doing the entire game over (borderlands)
No single player replay value (call of duty)

Time limits
I dont agree that they are always bad.

I enjoyed the doom rune trials and the time limit made those intense.

Here's one, that is pretty much insulting our intelligence at this point.

So, are you guys sure you know not to turn your system off when the save icon is flashing? It's apparently still a very big issue, considering damn near every fucking game has that disclaimer. Why the emphasis on something so brain dead obvious, that would probably only ever happen by accident, like a power outage, or something. Who deliberately turns their system off in the middle of three second save? Why is this disclaimer in every game?

My girlfriend doesn’t play games at all really but has been putting a lot of hours into Animal Crossing. I’m not sure she would be aware of that without a warning.

Scaling enemies in rpg's are the worst because it makes leveling up less satisfying. Plus you could avoid that by designing the game world right.

How is there level 5 super mutants who can't take one punch and level 50 super mutants who are bullet sponges? Why did the road bandit have a club when I was level 5 and now he has a fucking dragonbone sword when I'm level 30?

Escort missions, On rail vehicle shooter missions in non shooter games.

+ Underwater...well, anything.

+ Underwater...well, anything.

Ain't that the truth. Even in what I consider the most revolutionary game of this gen, "The Witcher 3", anything to do with going underwater was still a chore.

Stop it, game developers. You've tried, and failed...through generations. Stop it. Stop it right now! Nobody likes it.

Every RPG should have have a "sell every inventory weapon below level ____".

Rayman did it right

Fair enough. 2D underwater stuff is acceptable. 3D water...aww, hell no.

Other than some games designed around it, like "Subnautica", or that other game from the "Journey" creators, I can't think of a damn one that made it even remotely enjoyable. And even in those games, it was still a bit of a chore. Games in space have some of the same issues. The gravity element just fucks with our senses, and past the initial "okay, I feel like I'm underwater", it just gets annoying to deal with.

Time limits.

I can understand it if the scenario truly calls for it, like dismantling a bomb or whatever(and used very rarely), but other than that, it's a relic of past game design that was specifically created for old arcade games to keep you pumping quarters in them. That's it. That was the purpose. Why am I still dealing with this shit at home? It such cheap and lazy game design. Want to make any level in a game annoying as shit? Put an arbitrary timer on it.

Unskippable cut scenes before boss battles.

Escort missions.

Boss runs at the end of games. Hey, I get to fight all the bosses I've already beaten! Again! Fuck you.
