It is 80 meters tall.

(not so) fun fact:

The last recorded terrorist attack in our country was in 1997, when 2 madlads tried to blow it up. They botched it and one of them ended up blowing himself up instead.

Just found some pictures of it... I can see why it'll be expensive now .

On the bright side nobody else died in their attempt I guess.

Russia was basicly claimed to be the undisputed champ of AA systems, but i'm beginning to doubt that more and more
From Syria to the Nagorno-Karabakh they seem to be underperforming, take your example from Syria, the S300 was firing missiles at F-16 and yet failed to bring it down?
In Armenia we saw Pantsirs getting destroyed by air platforms while doing fuck all in return.
Are there any known cases where their modern AA systems managed to perform vs modern aircraft? (besides the shooting down of a passenger plane with MH-17)

They also seem to have some problems with their modern heli's

Russian Ka-52 helicopter suffers excessive vibration

Russian Ka-52 Alligator attack helicopter reportedly suffering from serious structural deficiencies, due to exposure to significant vibratory load levels originating from coaxial rotor system.

In intensive operation conditions, Ka-52’s coaxial rotor system with stub wings creates high vibrations.

The real operating experience in the conditions of the war in Ukraine confirmed that the Ka-52 helicopter is prone to excessive vibrations that lead to mechanical failures and vibration-induced fatigue.

Photos and videos that have appeared on social media show a range of different damage to Ka-52 helicopters caused by excessive body vibration during takeoff or landing. Russian combat helicopters are losing their landing gear fairings, and have cracks in the wings on which the main armament is suspended.

Severe imbalance in the rotating parts of Ka-52 leads to instabilities during flight making control difficult, if not impossible. Severe vibration can also affect avionics and navigation equipment.

In addition, one important issue is the degradation of instrument reading, which is a result of complex human-machine interaction. The Ukrainian military has already shot down several Russian attack helicopters from man-portable anti-tank missile systems at the moment when the crew was experiencing excessive vibration and could not keep track of the situation around.

According to TASS, the Ka-52 Alligator reconnaissance/attack helicopter is designed to destroy tanks, armored and non-armored vehicles, manpower, rotorcraft and other enemy aircraft on the frontline and in the tactical depth, in any weather conditions and at any time. The helicopter is furnished with modern avionics while its coaxial rotor system and enhanced longitudinal control enable it to effectively maneuver and perform complex aerobatic operations.

Then again, the F-16i Soufa could have been loaded up with a jamming pod

i think its still a deadly system, we know its forcing aircraft in the Ukraine to fly low. You are not wrong about the ShitSir system

On paper this thing should be a beast at killing drones, Helos and low flying CAS aircraft.

West doesn't really have a system like this and the US military is looking for a mobile system like this now. We have....shorad which honestly is pretty....stupid...

We should have build a system from the ground up.

In a couple days we went from 0-100 and are cracking down on Russian influence in our society.

There were provocations on Victory day, High ranking police officers got fired for their inefficiency, minister of interior affairs (who is in charge of the police and also an ethnic russian, so that sends sussy vibes all over the place.) was forced to step down, because our nationalist party threatened to leave the government, if she didn't leave, the leader of a pro russian political party got put in jail (later got released), russian language got banned in all levels of education, and the big Soviet WW2 victory monument, where the victory day is celebrated every year, will get demolished, and people donated 250k in 24 hours to fund it, so government won't have to worry about money.

All this thanks to one mad lad with a tractor.

Nothing to worry about.
Zirinovski friend get fined cos support war in Ukraine and advocates to do support Russia demonstrations...
Russian in education no one will ban.
Just most likely cos they should pay to teach local language and 2 other EU languages in HS....to add here expenses for russian....

Monument?
City council is plain and simple: in december they started to put ppl on centralised heating with Gazprom natural gas: prohibited to replace local heating systems for buildings and flats in city sincs 2025 th.
Told that city will be green, quiet, noise from factories is bad thing, city soon will be almost 0 waste city...
Damn.

Now? There is problem: drunk ppl too much in one place?
Let's demount this.......
While by their stuff with central heating lobby it is very easy to see that city council actually is a pro Gazprom oriented!

To see how stupid they are was easy in covid crisis.
City council had discounts for muncpality workers ( mainly these with essential jobs ).
There is covid? Let's cancel discounts for them in order to reduce...public transport usage. Experiment some months in row.

Sen. Rand Paul says he delivered letter from Trump to Putin (nbcnews.com)

From 2018. Kind of makes you wonder why he goes so hard against Ukrainian aid...
How is this so hard to understand? This is like showing all the goals an Olympics hockey player has scored agains Russian team and arguing that he's a Russophobe. Opposing budgetary increases is what Rand Paul does. It has always been his thing. He's famous for it. Here's the presidential campaign add by his father who's work Rand consistently continues:

Even if you mean well, ignoring realities and spreading disinformation is not the way to go about it.

Interesting outcome from recent daily basis threats from Russia not to help Ukraine otherwise will be technical, financial and economical punishment.
EU now agreed to transfer 500m EUR exactly for weapons deliveries.
Stuff is that countries are giving something and money too.
Now....it is centralised financing decision by all EU.

+ sanctions are pushed up to....improve and prevent evasion measures too.
Most likely will be accepted soon.

So he's basically a BudgetBot.

What a loser he must be to cling like a life raft to something like this in these times.

This would be a first i believe, supposed to be support for tank units, god knows they can use it

I would expect the replacement to atleast be fielding lasers at this point..

True, but calling him a Russian asset is just the kind of divisive partisanship that Russian hybrid warfare thrives on.

As soon as he got back from Russia, hand delivering Trump's letter to Putin, Paul worked to fight against Russian sanctions that didn't have anything to do with budgetary increases. He also called concern about Russian meddling in our elections "Trump Derangement Syndrome." An actual US Senator thought it was a good idea to use that term in public.

“Any country that can spy does, and any country that can meddle in foreign elections does, all countries are doing this, but we’ve elevated this to a higher degree, and we’ve made this all about the sour grapes of Hillary Clinton losing the election, and it’s all about partisan politics now. This is truly the Trump derangement syndrome that motivates all of this."

This I did not know. Thanks. I'm not saying that he is not a useful fool. His isolationist agenda is clearly aligned with Russian interests and he's been spreading Russian disinformation to support it just as have many other Trumptards. In my first comment about Rand Paul I said that he clearly does not give a shit about what's going on outside US and has no understanding of what's going on either. He's just stubbornly running his own agenda.

To be fair Hillary most likely had won IF....
Gun control obsession....Sorry, in some countries this is political suicide.....__
Btw Bill and Biden aren't like Hillary.

Americans does have cultural values, one from them is rights to bear arms.
It isn't Russia, where they fear from civilians and to ban everything is norm in culture since 1917 th.....

More than this: in some countries street crime reduced after gubbermints allowed civilians to get....CCW permits.
Rape cases reduced when was allowed to sell casuals pepper sprays....
