Russia/Ukraine Megathread V6

Let's be clear.

If you actually believe the Russians attempted a multi front invasion of Ukraine with hundreds of thousands of men and vehicles including deep penetrating airborne assaults and complex naval invasions just to secure the Donbass which was already under their control.

You're fucking retarded.
It's very clear they had a much larger agenda than was disclosed. Look how far they pushed and even the smallest, generous estimates of lowest loss amount proves they aren't anywhere near the level of capable compared to US/UK and Co.

What state of shock do you think the Kremlin is in right now?
If even half the news and footage is accurate I have a hard time imagining Putin sees it through 2022.

It's day 33 of their 3 day special operation and they've still not found the Nazis they're looking for, despite losing 10k troops to Ukrainian farmers.
Don't you think that shit was for the trump type fans back home to cheer at the TV?

Kremlin does have replacements: they have high number with old, soviet taught communists with KGB experience or dudes like Zirinoski, Kadirov, Lavrov, Lukashenko.
A lot >55 y.o gen
uises, enough high number also >70 y.o old specialists.

great way of saving on retirement pay out

Though in Putin's defence, Russian retirement package for their Generals is just a case of vodka thrown over with a bag of turnips.
No real expense there.

No, no, no. You don't get it. You're SUPPOSED to have your crack troops try to encircle the capital city and fail miserably. Then, they're supposed to limp back closer to your own border and declare victory. 11th-D chess!

I believe this is referred to as the JK Rowling doctrine. Highly effective tactics.

It seems to me their original goal was the entire country. That shifted to just the coast line which is why they completely leveled Mariupol which was a major speed bump for that effort. That plan also got thwarted because they started getting completely fucked up trying to push toward Odessa and Kherson is now being attacked by Ukrainian forces.

They are in danger of not only failing to achieve any of their worthwhile objectives, but possibly losing ground in Crimea. It's a disaster.

As for what happens to Putin, it's too soon to tell. We'll have to see how they even disengage from this first.

Rumors are he's been purging his inner circle recently. He's definitely getting worried.

Yeah, I could be operating on an understanding of it from 30+ years ago, but I think the actual launch would not be automatic that quickly. The President would be notified and rushed to get him in the air if possible. They would call Russia on the hot line to rule out any possible misinterpretation, etc. I'm sure there's at least some minutes of check-downs beforehand.

I kind of hope you are right haha. Imagine our nukes launched immediately because something happened that was a glitch or whatever and nobody had actually launched at us.

Follow the $. Everyone should have known Russian capabilities weren't a fraction of America's. We outspend them probably 20-1 on the military. It's a pro team vs a mid major college. No comparison.

That old noise of the big scary bully in the east feels a bit exaggerated now. Clearly they aren't as capable as we all believed.
I'm not buying every story posted here but at some point you got to accept part of the information and realise Russia's army are nothing special and have not evolved in 80 years.

Thanks for saving me the trouble.

@Da Speeit your move.

<{MingNope}>

EDIT: I see he moved his goalposts. No formal declaration of war, he says.

<{hfved}>

doesnt mean anything if you dont formally declare war. war is still war. hell, the only country that hitler formally declared war on was the united states. 3 days after japan bombed pearl harbor.

No one really said that though prior to this disaster.

Most people probably assumed Russia had the second best military in the world.

Now? It's quite possible they are not in the top 10.

Well, they've definitely improved their technology. The issue seems to be logistics and practical experience.

Not just their logistics at the deepest part of penetration, but even right next to their border. It's not that they can't get the supplies to their troops, those supplies probably aren't even in Russia at all. They lied about their preparedness. They sold that equipment long ago to line their own pockets.

Being a crook is part of being a powerful Russian especially if you're in the military.

I would assume Putin is like Prime BJ Penn. Nothing but yes men around him. His generals are probably still lying about the situation.

He's commanding ghost armies with fantasy capabilities. They blew their wad trying to show off in Syria.

What good is all that tech upgrade if you have a worthless army?

i dont know about putin being a prime bj penn. the way he's getting those cheeks clapped by those ukranian farmer's, he's more like an end-of-the-road bj penn, picking fights with random dudes at the bar that he thinks will be easy for him and still getting beat up.

perhaps they should have invested more of their rubles into some anti-tractor mines and missiles and maybe they would have a fair shot against these pissed off farmers.

hell, i was under the illusion that russia was some kind of military superpower. they should have rolled over ukraine in all of 3 days. why the hell is this still going on? it looks like theyre about ready to cut their losses and call it a day.

If the death tolls are accurate you will be a happy Ukrainian farmer. Think of all the free fertiliser they have now.

Joe Biden meeting with some troops in Poland

Breaking on Tucker Carlson tonight;

“Biden eating pizza while Europe burns, showing the world what a weak leader he is. Why isn’t he leading his men like Vladimir Putin?”

<Dany07>

So, where's Pres. Putin? :)

So what’s everyone’s thoughts on how the Donbass region fights will go? Anyone have unbiased map showing what’s controlled and by whom? I think it’ll be a battle to who can mobilize and stock troops the fastest to the region from where they are currently located. I see Donetsk being the next Mauripol and it basically getting scorched earth before/if ever Russia takes it. We will see how many people are still pro Russia there after the dust settles.

Mate, Donetsk is a capital of DONETSK Peoples Republic. Since 2014 it's not a part of Ukraine.
