Russia/Ukraine Megathread V6

So the mighty have fallen , the Russia army I long time considered the best behind the USA is actually a paper tiger. God.

And the main reasons for that are theft and graft. You want a new tank? Well, I'm the General and I want an upgrade to my yacht that's anchored in Cyprus.

Gotta keep my Instagram-hotties comfortable, you know.

So, where's Pres. Putin? :)

hiding in a bunker somewhere, sitting about half a gas tank away from everybody else

What good is all that tech upgrade if you have a worthless army?

It's all useless if you don't have the international support for logistics and intelligence. Russia is truly on their own.

Chinese support is nearly worthless. The quality of their materials and equipment is just so bad. The best they got from the Chinese was just some amplifying of their bullshit propaganda online. No one else that supports Russia is even worth mentioning.

It takes way more to wage war like this than just having oil and gas.

Everyone at the other end if that table must be conspiring.

i have to know what all those buttons around him do. especially on the desk beside him. surely they cant be good!

i can only imagine each button represents some kind of automated method of assassination on the people sitting on the other side of the table. if you press one of those buttons, i wouldnt imagine that some kremlin bus boy is gonna bring you a diet coke.

we need to find the answer for that

Lavrov's "stepdaughter" just made the sanction list.
Girl is 26 year old student in UK and bought her self a 5mil GBP flat...
The money is pouring out the country

They have some weird priorities … how about getting all the spotlight in that critic time

No one really said that though prior to this disaster.

Most people probably assumed Russia had the second best military in the world.

Now? It's quite possible they are not in the top 10.

Cold war era thinking, plus the fact they have a ton of nukes has given them an aura of it yeah. I agree, it seems to be getting shattered each day this goes on.

I kind of hope you are right haha. Imagine our nukes launched immediately because something happened that was a glitch or whatever and nobody had actually launched at us.

Plus, if the state of readiness is 2 or 1, it could become almost automatic as you say.

Readiness condition Exercise term Description Readiness
DEFCON 1
COCKED PISTOL Nuclear war is imminent or has already begun Maximum readiness. Immediate response.
DEFCON 2 FAST PACE Next step to nuclear war Armed forces ready to deploy and engage in less than six hours
DEFCON 3 ROUND HOUSE Increase in force readiness above that required for normal readiness Air Force ready to mobilize in 15 minutes
DEFCON 4 DOUBLE TAKE Increased intelligence watch and strengthened security measures Above normal readiness
DEFCON 5 FADE OUT Lowest state of readiness Normal readiness

Putin said it himself when he declared his invasion to the world.

His intent was to reverse the wrongs of Lenin who allowed Ukraine to remain autonomous and have the right to secede in the Soviet constitution.

I watched his entire interview and I don't remember him ever saying that. Yes he has mentioned a lot of things about the soviet union but never once did I ever hear him vocalize his intentions in Ukraine as taking the whole country.

I thought that might be his intentions but it was really just a guess. As far as I know, nobody really knows what his plans were exactly. If you have proof he said he was taking all of Ukraine please post it for me, because I never heard him say it

I'm trying to figure out exactly why anyone would care what he said to be honest. I mean, he's talked in general terms of rebuilding the Russian Imperium in the past for sure. Nothing specific so no, you can't definitively say at all that means he meant annexation of the Ukraine (or even puppet state a la the Soviet days). But regardless, the guy explicitly said in no uncertain terms just this past December they were not going to invade the Ukraine (despite amassing huge amounts of troops on the border). He literally did the exact opposite of that 2 months later. So if he did specifically verbalize his goals...why would anyone with a brain believe him?

I'm just trying to see if our media is lying again or not. They say he has changed strategies but as far as I know, nobody knew his strategy in the first place.

I'm just trying to see if there was ever any evidence that he said he was taking all of Ukraine. As far as I can tell, that's just a made up narrative but who knows

Although he worded it like Russia is the victim, he definitely alluded towards toppling the Ukrainian government.

"This brings me to the situation in Donbass. We can see that the forces that staged the coup in Ukraine in 2014 have seized power, are keeping it with the help of ornamental election procedures and have abandoned the path of a peaceful conflict settlement. For eight years, for eight endless years we have been doing everything possible to settle the situation by peaceful political means. Everything was in vain."
