Russia/Ukraine Megathread V5

No tbh it benefits everyone even the Ukranians even if their pride won't let them admit it. Russia's West and far east seperating has been inevitable. They want totally different futures and both remaining in the same state isn't really doable. They have not just been fighting now but in the east they've been fighting since 2014. The situation being permanently resolved at the soonest time means the fewest deaths so it's only logical.

The outcome is already a done deal(Russia will secure the independence of 2-3 breakaway states there might be a little more to it but that's the main jist of any settlement)it's only how long it takes and how many lives it takes.

Everyone who thinks China is or was or might have invaded Taiwan based on the outcome of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, and everyone who thinks China might now be put off by the resounding idiocy of this invasion.

The idea China may have been behind this makes it, by definition, a thought experiment to their own interests.

this link also states Germany came out and agreed to not move forward with the fighter jets… also says she is going to meet with Justin Trudeau in Poland. I can only imagine how great and productive a meeting with her and Trudy in Poland is gonna go

I don't think I've seen a single person suggesting China was behind Russia's invasion...

I've seen people suggest China may take advantage of it...

But ok... sure, there's a lot of posts I've missed

China's best way of taking advantage of this situation is to pay an insanely low price for Russian oil and gas that otherwise can't go anywhere.

If Russia decides to cut the gas supply to Europe, they WILL still be able to sell it - but nobody is going to do them a favour.

They're going to bleed Russia dry, and that's only fair given the critical haemorrhaging to Russia's market influence.

The serbtards maybe. But it would be a cold day in hell before Hungary declares war on the western world, or even tries to impede its war effort in any way, in favour of freaking Russia. Hungary may have a warmer disposition towards Russia than the average western country, but it doesn't actually like Russia per se. It's just an ally in the culture war.

Russians have moved their money and converted it in overseas dollars during the fall of the Ruble and have bought bitcoin and other cryptos during the downturn some have bought gold but less then in the past.

Right? I'm like..."Umm, I know she's VP and supposed to do this shit. But she has ZERO clue what she's doing." Meanwhile...we have a former two term prez who obviously has a shit ton of foreign policy experience AND who the current Prez was the VP for just sitting around with nothing to do.

Like...avoiding nuclear war is a pretty good reason to bring in the ringer here. I'm actually more conservative than not (moderate), but Obama...kind of seems like the right fit here.

Oh I'm not saying Hungary would actually start anything. But I'm telling you Orbáns policy is one of not antagonizing greater powers. Considering the location, power and history of that country that's not a dumb stance. You do know I'm from there, right? Just for reference, is all. There's no actual love for Russia as there's still lots of physical evidence of when the Motherland visited in '56, just a serious reluctance to antagonize. And while I think Orbán has been very much on point with many of his policies, he's gotta get with the program and fully commit to the EU in this instance.

Obama has gravitas, experience and the respect of much of the world, so, agreed.
 
republicans and democrats can finally unite. we squabble and argue about petty shit but when back is to the wall and children are dying, well im just a lego salesman.
