I spent a lot of time researching this conflict back in 2014, then on/off during and after the invasion 2022.
My prediction in 2014, that this would be a long conflict, due to eastern Ukraine (including Crimea) being very strategically important for Russia, and also very important for Ukraine/NATO, proved to be correct.
I also knew that most of Eastern Ukraine were more loyal to Russia than EU/NATO, which would be a problem for a new puppet regime.
It was also very obvious that USA was deeply involved, you had war mongerer number one John McCain holding speeches during the protests, for God's sake.
And you had Victoria Nuland bragging about USA spending $5 billion to promote "democracy" in Ukraine.
Senator John McCain on Sunday told thousands of Ukrainian protesters camped on Kiev's main square that Ukraine's destiny lay in Europe and that it would make Europe better.
"Ukraine will make Europe better and Europe will make Ukraine better," he said to crowds protesting against President Viktor Yanukovich's U-turn in trade policy away from Europe towards Russia.
"We are here to support your just cause, the sovereign right of Ukraine to determine its own destiny freely and independently. And the destiny you seek lies in Europe," said McCain, a leading Republican voice on US foreign policy."
Just picture the scene if a Russian politician held a speech like that in Canada or Mexico during riots, and how your government would react.
I listened to more than one source, and cross-checked what all agreed on, and what people disagreed on, and what kind of news each side highlighted, and saw a very incomplete/dishonest picture of the conflict through the Swedish media.
I read and listened to journalists and politicians from all sides (NATO/Ukraine/Russia/Sweden, etc.)
