They are geographically close, bordering each other, and both have cultural and linguistic ties rooted in the Baltic language family.

Francis was a below average pope. John Paul II was a great pope -- and became a saint. I no longer follow the Catholic faith. I was a good soldier in that Army, but no more. Religion has proven a failure in my book. Too many innocent women and children being killed. Just look at the current situation in Gaza. Christianity has become a highly evolved cult through the centuries. How many children are being raped by Catholic priests? How much money is the Vatican embezzling? I don't know what any of this has to do with the war in Ukraine.
