Ukraine has suffered a major setback as Russian forces make fresh territorial gains in the Sumy and Kursk regions. Moscow’s Ministry of Defense claims its troops have captured Novenke in Sumy—marking Russia’s first advance in the region since 2022. It was a terrible move by the Ukrainian Army. 10,000 Ukrainian soldiers will most likely be killed by the Russians.
Why don't you address the fact that Russia is currently winning this conflict, and the casualties Ukraine is taking?

Hell no, it was a good move. Ukraine gained a huge chunk of territory in one week in August via a BLITZ assault across the border. The russians had conscripts and border police which gave little to no resistance back then. Since that time, in full 8 months the russians have thrown everything and the kitchen sink AT ANY COST to take it back. Russia has suffered the largest casualties in the past half a year in this very region. Of course it would have been great for the ukrainians if they could have expanded the territory control and made strategic advances but the lack of it doesn't erase Russia's casualties

- and no 10 000 ukrainians won't be killed buddy, there are less than 5 000 in Sudzha right now and most of them will be retreating within the Ukrainian border. There is no risk of encirclement despite the various fake news. The ukrainians have a clear path of retreat and they'll use it very soon.

- of course it's a tactical win for the russians and they have the current political and diplomatic momentum all on their side as Ukraine is getting trashed by it's own friends. But momentum is one thing, winning the whole thing another, you'll have to wait a few more months if that eventually happens

At this point UKR would be better off going cold turkey with the US, Trump cut off aid and stopped intelligence sharing. Now he demands the mineral deal without continuing aid or any type of security agreement. He is trying to blackmail UKR but has no "cards" if he cut off UKR anyway...unless he will start sending intelligence to Russia and even try to stop the sanctions and at this point would not surprise me.
It's like he is hoping for a UKR surrender so he can act like he stopped this war.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense plans to purchase 4.5 million drones in 2025. This is 2.5 times more than they purchased in 2024. If in 2024 the enemy had 5.5 thousand drones on each day of combat, then in 2025 it will have 12.3 thousand drones for each day of combat.

According to Ukrainian data, drones account for more than 80% of losses of personnel and equipment of the Russian Defense Ministry.

America backing out of it's global security order, political instability in South Korea, NK getting new tech from Russia, China developing new weapons, etc.
This may embolden Xi and Kim to make moves. How is the US and the rest of the world going to react if China and NK start their wars at the same time while the west is focused on Ukraine/Russia and Europe?

I wonder if the new world order will be full of conventional wars with everybody threatening to use nukes like Putin but never actually using them.

Drones have proven to be the single most important development in this new era of warfare. They seem to be difficult to deal with even with air superiority, which Russia doesn't have and likely won't ever have in this conflict. It begs the question why isn't Russia owning the skies with their 5th gen fighters?

It makes me think the Su-57 is overhyped. It either isn't up to par with American 5th gen fighters, there aren't enough numbers of them or Russia doesn't have the capacity to operate such an advanced and expensive aircraft to the extent the west can.

This was news to me when it came out but JD Vance cousin Nate Vance been fighting in Ukraine for the Ukrainians since 2022. He called JD an Trump useful idiots for Putin. He did not stop there he said was disgusted the way his cousin treated President Zelensky in the Oval Office. He the big guy in the middle operating the drone. Yeah no wonder JD never traveled to Ukraine he would look like a big pussy next to his also Marine trained cousin. It looks like press pool Marines are very different then combat trained Marine Corp cousin fighting in the war compared to WW2.
