International Russia/Ukraine Megathread V15

How does that change this war?

Like pro Ukranians can all circle jerk about the destruction of the Black Sea fleet. How does this acheive any tangible military goals for your side? Like when terms are reached will the Russians be giving the Ukranians points for taking out the Black Sea fleet? No. It provides no leverage of any kind. Its just military porn.
Russia attempted to blockade Ukraines black sea ports. Eliminating or removing them from the war is a huge win.

If Ukraine wins, it won't be by wiping out all russian units in its territory like Risk pieces. They need to bleed Russia everywhere to make the war unsustainable for the invader.

Every hit in russian infrastructure and valuable targets counts towards that goal, even if it's away from the front lines.

The Russian Black Sea being destroyed does not make the war unsustainable at all. It technically strengthens the post war Russian economy because they'll need to build a whole new one.

Yes but Russias failure or success blockading Odessa isn't going to change anything about this wars outcome.

Wow , that's crazy another reason why UKR doesnt have to surrender. They can keep ths up and take money away from the war machine one depot at a time. And unlike WW2 where they had lend/lease from the states to help them now they dont big difference , but I'm sure NK and Iran are doing their part.

And don't forget that all of their maintenance came from the West/Oil Companies. They're now gone from Russia, and they're not interested in coming back anytime soon. Those facilities need constant maintenance and they're no longer getting that.

As far as replacement parts go, yeah Russia can source some from the black market but they're incapable of manufacturing them at home as Russia's industry is now on a wartime footing. Putin screwed Russia with his hubris.

Yep, those oil strikes are big for many reasons. It's not like a railroad strike where they can get some grunts and raw material to fix it, these oil refineries need specialty people and material to repair and Russia putting themselves in so many sanctions make it challenging on every attack.

Yep, I've used that exact term on how Russia is going to implode...they are well on their way.

They might've already reached the tipping point...

Remember the Wagner group rebellion?

Remember how no one in the Russian military joined in?

Remember how no one in the Russian military tried to stop it?

That SCREAMS volumes.

It's been my contention that Russia will keep going until they suddenly can't. Shit can go sideways for them pretty fast, at least as viewed from the outside. It's a nation held together by bubble gum, bailing wire, and a lot of fear.

Here's what I believe.

Prigozhin was really going after Shoigu and Gerasimov because his fighters were ammo starved. Shoigu and Gerasimov skimmed soooooo much off the top that only scraps were left.

Pres. Putin has purged his ranks of anyone that wasn't brought up in the same KGB system that he was. If he's removed, then someone from the same school will take over. When Pres. Putin had Prigozhin removed, he removed someone that was completely loyal to him. He just didn't like who Pres. Putin had along with him.

This is simply untrue. The Russians / Soviets had huge oil and gas production operations during the Cold War and will continue to have with or without Western support. They may not be as efficient, but they will keep running.
