Hmm not really the same shit show. Unlike southern counter which did not go anywhere, Kursk was Blitz assault at the beginning. Huge chunk of territory taken in a few days against conscripts and border police which had no idea what they were doing. And lost in 9 months while Rus lost much more men power than Ukr. 70k is bs, rus there lost multiple times more than Ukr.

Too bad they couldn't hold it for longer, or god damn it expanded the control (would have been huge strategically, which makes the whole thing worth the gamble). Decisive was inability to take Korenevo and Glushkovo. At that point it was clear sooner or later they have to withdraw. But hey some good killings have been done from Ukr too. I am satisfied personally with the riddance of Bratislav Zivkovic. And three days ago they did the universe another favor, killed Ivan Krutikov.

from now on i agree though that digging in and focusing on defensive fighting should be the smarter thing to do, even though who the fuck am i to tell AFU what to do, they are clearly very talented and brave on their own

From now on i agree though that digging in and focusing on defensive fighting should be the smarter thing to do.

That would be the smart thing to do indeed. Unfortunately, that ship sailed a while back. Ukraine taking Russian territory and striking Moscow with drones was definitely the wrong move. As dumb as the Ukrainian military leadership is, they will now hit Moscow with their new R-360 Neptune missile. A modified version of the Russian Kh-35 missile.

So, instead of de-escalating, Ukraine is going on the offensive. Kill a few dozen Russians in Moscow and watch what happens to Kiev. Trump was not able to reach a peace deal. Europe won't reach a peace deal, and Zelensky does not want a peace deal. His term as president has already expired. A 3-year war could be turning into a 30-year war. Unlike Zelensky, Ukranians and the Ukrainian military want an end to this conflict.

Russia should retaliate with the Oreshnik missile and hit major cities in Ukraine like: Kiev, Lviv, Dnipro, and Odesa. That should put an end to this conflict early.

There's only one real target left in the Ukraine for Oreshnik and that's the main military bunker in Kiev, the Russians aren't gonna touch it since the current Ukrainian command staff are nice & predictable and getting rid of them might actually bring someone competent into power. Everything else can be taken care of with their other missile systems. The main targets for Oreshnik are the Aegis Ashore installations in Poland and Romania along with other key strategic targets in Europe, Russia probably ain't going to fire another one off unless the EU gets really stupid with their interventions.

Personally, I have an unpopular opinion about this conflict, I say, let them bang!

Like it or not, this conflict has created two monsters, both AFU and RFAF have around 1 million experienced soldiers and plenty of fucking weapons. Even if the war stops, that amount of power will be directed somewhere else (impossible to de-militarize) and that 'somewhere else' is completely unpredictable. (and could be mine or some other sherdogger's neighborhood). As far as morals, i don't think I'm on the wrong side for being a 'warmonger' in this particular case. I have followed ukrainian and especially russian social media intensively the last three years and trust me russians in general are way more agressive warmongers than Putin might be and ukrainians want to kill russians much more than Zelensky does. Both sides really only want a temporary ceasefire to replenish and come back to kill more. And Trump wants it only because of his ego as he promised to not spend more money, he really doesn't give a fuck about who is dying either.

I say give ukrainians the level of support given so far (since in a way we owe it to them after all the encouraging done for decades by the west) and let them:

This is the opinion I have about most long-running conflicts such as Ukraine vs. Russia or the total shit show in the Middle East. The root causes go back way too far and the hatred is too deep for the conflicts to really stop until one side is completely destroyed. You can broker a temporary ceasefire and throw some peacekeepers at it or whatever and it might stop the shooting for a few years or even a few decades or generations, but sooner or later it's going to boil over again and they all go back to killing each other. We should just let them kill each other until they're happy or everyone in the area's dead, in the long run, there's probably less dead people this way.
