"well, russia certainly made Finland and Sweden want to join up so in an indirect way nato did expand east because of Russia"

That's my original quote. Not seeing the part in there where I said Russia told them to join. You must have glossed over the "indirect" part. Here's a video to watch to clarify. Finland's president makes it very clear at the end Russia's actions caused them to join nato.

didn't know ukraine is part of finland...

also joining nato means being openly hostile towards russia, so if anything finland make themselves less safe by getting involved in something didn't concern them in 1st place

Getting involved in something that didn't concern them? What did they get involved in exactly? It's not up to Russia what other countries do

lol at the change in time and language in this thread regarding even if trump is president. That is not over a year from now. It is as if you expect the second and/or even third spring offensive to fail yet again. Why is that? Oh, we better keep throwing endless money at it
Idk the media articles have been strongly hinting that the US will start prodding Ukraine to begin negotiations.

I think it will be a stalemate for a long time. I don't see any viable weapon that could be given to Ukraine to really allow them to make a push. It's really, really hard to advance against a combination of minefields, artillery and infantry with ATGMs waiting in trenches. Even if Ukraine is able to neutralize the helicopters and planes.
That's exactly the same problem that Russia had, Ukrainian artillery was able to wreck havoc on the Russian columns. Russia couldn't disperse their troops because of minefields. The surviving armor was picked apart by ATGMs and Ukrainian tanks.
Russia will most likely not collapse at this rate, either. They are able to manufacture a decent amount of hardware and ammo, so they will always have some. Some estimate Russia pumps out 250 tanks a year. Not much, not enough to replenish the 1500+ they lost, they will not be able to mount another big offensive, but it's still a decent number to keep up a static line.

The attrition could last forever as neither country is able to destroy or capture the factories that make the materiel.
General Zaluzhny agrees with your take as well. I think the tank numbers might be higher but it doesn't really matter, like you explained. The technology here is making defense far too effective.

Not really no.
Russia can go fuck itself if it wants to dictate what other sovereign nations do.

call the cops on them...

if their national security is threatened by nato expansion they will react

translation:

as long as ukraine is acting like a nato puppet and destroying its country for nato interests "its winning"
As long as Ukraine is bleeding Russia dry with resources i am happy. They probably won't win in the long run, but at least russia will be worse off economically.

God i don't give a shit. Your not contributing to anything
Guy is probably the worst shit poster on SD. That says a lot. I remember him in the heavies, and he shit posted there big time. I think he was a Mike Perry fanboy for some reason even though he seems to hate americans. Guys a clown, was part of the Platinum Nation.

As long as NATO supports them.
Thats a given, but i was thinking more in terms of Ukraine soldiers. How many are left, and how long can they last if Russia keeps sending out cannon fodder?

Their national security isn't threatened by anything. That's just a fantasy bullshit narrative not based in any form of reality. A nuclear power will never be directly attacked or invaded by another nuclear power.. not a thing that will happen in this reality, so stop spinning that bullshit.

The only thing thats "threatened" by NATO expansion are Russia's ambitions to invade and take over its neighbors. Just like a thief's desire to steal your TV is "threatened" by a lock on a door, a house alarm and a likely armed occupant of the house.

Your taxes are being stolen by politicians who don't give a shit about you and are giving your money to foreigners on the other side of the planet.

And Russia training a strike on Stockholm in 2013 was of course not being openly hostile?
