International Russia/Ukraine Megathread V14

That is basically the reality of the situation. But I have my doubts UKR will be able to push Russia out unless they get more advanced weapons as Putler will kill every last Russian if he has to in order to keep land. Russia seems to have dug in while waiting for the spring offensive to happen which ended up a summer offensive as the weapons showed up too late.
Now it seems Russia for the most part weathered the offensive and is all in on another offensive of their own. It does appear to be a stalemate and hopefully the aid will continue as long as it takes for Russia to collapse because they will never stop otherwise.

There's a pretty good chance Trump might win the presidency.

If that happens, I expect US military aid to dry up. If that happens, the rest of Europe will also abandon them. Then Russia will resume taking over Ukraine.

if Trump wins things will obviously change but I believe a lot of promised air is arranged for years to come so that a Trump win cant totally upend things. And why would EU and other countries abandon them? They have as much skin in the game should Russia take UKR because it's a matter of time before Russia continues more invasions.

Who the fuck knows with Trump.

Last I recall his position was Putin will take my deal because if he doesn't I will send so much stuff Ukraine will roll over them.

Basically anything between cutting off aid and sending substantially more than biden is a possibility.

Of course they chose to make an enemy of themselves. Keep simping for someone who arbitrarily started a war and fucked over his nation in the process. It's enlightening.

yeah, cause russia made nato expend further east...

cant be this dumb

I mean the second largest military aid giver is Germany. They delayed and delayed and insisted the US give first before they did anything. Germany wanted appeasement and didn't really want to help until the international pressure just became too great.

Mark my words - If US aid falters, Germany and then all of Europe will follow. Poland and the Baltic states will still try to help, but they don't have the means.

Trump purposefully delayed the initial military assistance to Ukraine. He admitted as much. So I don't think he's really going to be staunch ally to Ukraine.

lol at the change in time and language in this thread regarding even if trump is president. That is not over a year from now. It is as if you expect the second and/or even third spring offensive to fail yet again. Why is that? Oh, we better keep throwing endless money at it

I really don't think so.

"Donald Trump is the only person to lose an election to Joe Biden outside of Delaware." -- Bill Barr

There's currently a lawsuit with significant merit seeking to bar him from being eligible for elected office.

There's a non-zero chance he spends election day in a jail cell.

Before conservative talk radio and Fox News told him which side he was supposed to be on he said Hamas is smart.

It's late. I'm sure I'm missing a few others.

well, russia certainly made Finland and Sweden want to join up so in an indirect way nato did expand east because of Russia.

I think it will be a stalemate for a long time. I don't see any viable weapon that could be given to Ukraine to really allow them to make a push. It's really, really hard to advance against a combination of minefields, artillery and infantry with ATGMs waiting in trenches. Even if Ukraine is able to neutralize the helicopters and planes.
That's exactly the same problem that Russia had, Ukrainian artillery was able to wreck havoc on the Russian columns. Russia couldn't disperse their troops because of minefields. The surviving armor was picked apart by ATGMs and Ukrainian tanks.
Russia will most likely not collapse at this rate, either. They are able to manufacture a decent amount of hardware and ammo, so they will always have some. Some estimate Russia pumps out 250 tanks a year. Not much, not enough to replenish the 1500+ they lost, they will not be able to mount another big offensive, but it's still a decent number to keep up a static line.

The attrition could last forever as neither country is able to destroy or capture the factories that make the materiel.

russia told them to join?

"well, russia certainly made Finland and Sweden want to join up so in an indirect way nato did expand east because of Russia"

That's my original quote. Not seeing the part in there where I said Russia told them to join. You must have glossed over the "indirect" part. Here's a video to watch to clarify. Finland's president makes it very clear at the end Russia's actions caused them to join nato.
