International Russia/Ukraine Megathread V12

However, if someone is not a life long infantry, I am wary of listening to their opinions on tactics as they feign authority.
You think because someone has been in the Infantry their entire career that they are always right about what they say or do? No, they are not.
Even officers and NCOs at the senior rank with time and experience still make mistakes. That is why they are relieved of duty and/or replaced.

The difference in their skillset and knowledge is enormous. So please forgive me if I can't take what you say seriously after you offered completely illogical tactics that others immediately called you out on as well as claiming terrain plays no role since US military is prepared for anything.
That is quite alright mate.
If you chose to listen to idiots that is your choice. If I were to listen, and believe, half the shit some people post in this thread, Ukraine would have won and finished this conflict by now. They are blinded by the idea that because Russia invaded, Ukraine will win.

Quit being stupid and putting words in my mouth. The word 'NATO' was never used.

Its not being stupid man, you pointed out Russia has no border threats and no fears of invasions. I mean this is basic fucking language so you are either being intentionally obnoxious or you are simply trolling.

You claimed that "nobody is invading Russia" so that means Russia doesn't has any external threats to its borders, that includes NATO.

Otherwise you would not say "Oh well Russia still needs to keep some troops in case NATO invades".

Did anyone actually say that or is that one of your spin jobs?

If rambling nonsense was the threshold for me putting people on ignore, buddeh, i'd have put myself and 90% of the forum on there a decade ago

True, but spinmarino is taking it to a different level. At first I assumed he was a teenager with his naive view of the real world but later learned he is a vet...which is scary.

Yes, I noticed that. Since you can't contribute to this threat you feel that insults is the way to pass the time. Once you get insulted back, you get butthurt. Funny how that works.

Russia has air superiority? Where? All I see are Russian helicopters and airplanes being shot down by Ukraine. Where are you getting your news from? So, if Russia has air superiority and a small Ukrainian airdrop behind enemy lines would be completely squashed, that means that Russia is winning this conflict would it not? Their forces must be better prepared and are superior to Ukraine. Well, if that is the case, Ukraine is done. Finished! Why waste time making a frontal attack on an enemy that is stronger and will not move? What exactly is the Ukrainian Army plan to push Russia back East and break through those fortified defensive positions?
You noticed that I didn’t insult or question your service?

BTW of the two of us you insulted me first back when we first were arguing. You also tried to claim you didn’t once and I dug up the posts to prove it. I guess you figure it’s safe to try again now that the search function is busted?

This whole thing has made me rethink tanks. Whats the point of having a T14 or M1A1 or Leopard 2 vs T-64 or T-72 or T-80 when they all get blown up by 155mm artillery, drones, anti-tank mines etc? Might as well use the ones that you can more easily mass produce. The only advantage I can see is that some of the newer tanks have better crew survivability if the ammo cooks off. All those other things like better gun, better targetting etc only matter when those other threats arent there. Future tanks need to be able to shoot down/jam drones, anti-tank missiles and detect mines. Those dont exist in sufficient numbers currently though.

True story, Tanks to a certain extent have become Battleships of WW2 where they are basically expensive targets. But like you said, with the changing battle field being "drone heavy" technology will have to adapt.

You’re not the first vet he’s badmouthed when his feelings got hurt. It’s his go to move when he’s saying something stupid and getting called out for it.

But yeah suggesting a massive airborne drop when Russia has air superiority is just really stupid

It's just clear the guys talking out of his ass and just making things up as he goes along.

First it was an airborne drop. Then when it was pointed out that he'd be landing units between a massive russian defensive line on one side, and the remainder of russian forces on the other, it suddenly changed to an airdrop "far in the east." Then when it was explained that these units would be totally isolated he reverted back to us dropping them 10 miles east of the current front. So now we're back to just dropping units in the worst possible place. And his suggestion for resupplying these poor fucks: they could just raid nearby villages. Brilliant. Dropping right behind the world largest system of mines and trenches with some 80,000ish troops to your front with no support from any armor (although he did briefly mention that the armor would just link up with them as soon as they could, with no explanation of how it would run that gauntlet), and only the supplies on your back. Not to mention his suggested airborne size went from "huge", to "company sized elements" to "well one company sized elements and a couple of platoon sized ones." All of that, and still no specifics on what this groups objectives would be, or how it would make sense to send in these poor fucks a meager 10 miles from the front when Ukraine has adequate artillery to hit anything at that distance already.

Given that he's been wrong every step of the way in this thread, you'd think @San Marino would have a bit more humility.

Clearly they'd all be navy seals...but also navy seals kinda suck.... :/

Well Analog devices, Texas Instruments an a total of 25 companies continued selling powerful microcontroller chips to Russian suppliers of their advanced weapon systems. Time to close up shops an move technologies to companies who follows orders. We need to send a message to these aholes. It was over 1/2 a billion dollars.
