International Russia/Ukraine Megathread V12

Prigs tired of getting his sh$t pushed in lol.

The Russian world actually relied on Ukraine to make military and large civilian transport planes.

Not just planes, but engines for subs and ships as well as most advanced tech. Ukraine was the Silicon Valley of the Soviet Union. They did suffer massive brain drain after the fall of the USSR though; a large chunk of the people who are responsible for the emergence of Silicon Wadi in Israel are Ukrainians who emigrated in the 90s.

For sure, but I was getting at was the practice continued even after the fall of the USSR.

Russia never stopped buying Ukrainian planes.

I understood what you were saying, I was just pointing out that it wasn't limited to planes. The entire Russian Navy is/was powered by Ukrainian engines. Ukraine stopped selling engines (along with planes and other tech) to Russia in 2015. Russia has not yet overcome this embargo and, personally, I actually think it is a motivating factor for Putler's invasion; Russia doesn't have the technical know how to build the things it needs for a modern economy; Ukraine does. Putler just figured that it would be faster and easier to steal Ukraine's technically trained labor force as opposed to developing his own.

Very over represented compared to the ghost.

Phoenix ghost has been in Ukraine for a year now. Didn't even have a wiki page when it was first sent and I know that Ukraine got another batch shortly after the first when they publicly said it was preferred over the switchblade/s. So this is at a minimum their third batch.
it didn't have a wiki because it didn't exist. was built specifically for Ukraine. i'm assuming its a less capable version of the switchblade, or a cheaper version, to keep cost down and reduce risk of tech theft.

edit: actually looks like they made changes to improve the loiter duration.

Well Russia strikes on the grain destroyed 34 million tons of it. Enough to throw 45 million people into starvation. Quality people those Russians

Zelensky said it was for China too. Not sure how they will like that.

34 million tons?!?!? When did that happen? I saw that 60,000 tonnes went up in flames yesterday, but when did all this other grain go up in smoke?

I don't think this is possible.

Maybe you are confusing the ability to move that amount of grain with the actual grain destruction?

Most likely he confused the amount of grain that Ukraine ships with the grain destruction itself.

Its a fantastical number. The average grain silo contains 1000 to 3000 tons of grain. That would be like 20,000 silos going up in flames.

Yeah, its a shitload of grain, did some basic calculation considering Odessa port size, it would be like a column that is twice as high as the Empire State building full of grain covering the entirety of the port.
