So... If Ukraine "went loud" with this on their Independence Day...

How many times have they done "quiet" insertions of personnel and supplies behind the lines in Crimea already?

True, but it seems they were expecting a D-Day type assault and Ukraine is using surgical strikes.

Agreed, everyone one was thinking the D-Day scenario. That’s what made it so laughable at the time.

But then Ukraine busts out this Doolittle operation and I’m sitting here like “touché… good show ole chaps!”

Russian terror accused detained in Finland – linked to Wagner A 36-year-old Russian citizen has been detained in Finland on suspicion of committing terrorist crimes in occupied areas of the Ukrainian regions of Luhansk and Donetsk between 2014 and 2015, Finnish media reports. The man is reported to have Nazi connections and previous media reports claim that he previously lived in Norway, from where he was deported in 2016. In Telegram channels linked to the Wagner Group allege that the man led one of the paramilitary organization's subgroups. According to Expo, he has been the commander of Rusich and has been on the EU sanctions list.

And to think,

Just a few months ago we were all laughing at the Russians for digging trenches on the beaches in Crimea..

Ukrainians got in via chopper, so trenches would had done shit.

Trenches alone ofc are helpless but they does have also bunkers, tonnels, drones, video cameras, also a lot of civilian stuff is used.... even cheap quadrocopters from aliexpress... doctored or no.

Russia and Belarus does have damn a lot of anti tank and anti infantry mines...

Plus ofc mines and obstacles might just slow down offense , however IF minefields are protected with survillance and when you reach these, they are using howitzers, MRLS etc to shell units.

Also sattelites, they does have some network and....informants....Informants are big problem and they obiviously are promised to get good positions when russia will win and also are paid immediately ....

Minefield alone while is nightmare, is lesser problem than protected minefield. This means that when you reach minefield, they are starting to shell ....

There also ofc is thing that opponents reaching protected zone area might be detected with thermal sights, optical tools, noise sensors and so called ground radars.
Ground radar is thing mainly designed to detect peasants, boats and cars. Range usually is 5-26 km and such stuff is used by border guards etc...

That would require manning those trenches, which would divert assets from other parts of the front which are in a more dire situation.

All of that just to stop some mini-raiding operations that killed some mobiks.

The whole purpose of the operation was to shame Russia during Ukraine independence day, this was their Doolittle raid.

Interesting possibility.

Prigozhin faked death in 2019

Prigozhin flew to Moscow for an unknown reason after returning from Africa – speculation is he could have been summoned there by the Kremlin.

According to reports, Prigozhin’s phone has been found among the wreckage.

Both Wagner and Moscow sources claim Prigozhin is dead – but there has been no official confirmation amid the cloak and dagger of Russia.

None of the bodies recovered from the crash site have been identified yet.

It is understood DNA testing is taking place as the corpses are so badly burnt.

But there is speculation Prigozhin may have dodged Putin’s wrath as a second plane linked to the Wagner leader was spotted just half an hour after the jet crashed.

Prigozhin previously faked his own death and was declared dead in Africa in 2019 before re-emerging three days later.

Yes, trenches should be manned. However they now mainly are using tactique when they see that Ukr are reaching minefields, they in most cases initially are calling for artillery and MRLS support before starting to do something....

"Russia can manufacture thousands of tanks every year"
Also Russia:

For usage as self propelled field gun it is powerful stuff. Worse for Ukr than T-90 in such role.
While God knows condition these does have and etc factors.
