Russia did not face an imminent security threat to justify its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Yevgeny Prigozhin, the founder of Russia’s Wagner mercenary outfit, said in a bombshell video posted on social media Friday.

“The Armed Forces of Ukraine were not going to attack Russia with the NATO bloc,” Prigozhin explained in the half-hour tirade released by his press service.

“The Russian Defense Ministry is deceiving the public and the president,” he added.

Prigozhin’s comments were at odds with the casus belli given by President Vladimir Putin when he ordered troops into Ukraine last February, although the private army chief avoided personally attacking the Russian leader.

I know this fact Finish fed on Russians in the past the winter war of 1939 and the Finish people have become substantially better since then NATO is more then happy to except Finland into NATO. Finish people more so then even Ukrainian are better at the war thing and I believe they are the sleeper of NATO. Russia knows the capabilities of Finland and fought to keep Finland away from NATO the only way they knew how was though political bribes an buying out people. Now they got what they never wanted an 700 mile boarder with NATO in Finland and some bad a$$ finish warrors.

I think Putin was told - and believed - that the invasion would be completed within a matter of weeks and result in control of the whole country, like say if the US decided to invade a neighbor and spent months building up forces on its border.

I don't think he was told that or that the goal was to ever take the whole country. I always said from the start, I thought their plan was to take the Eastern land bridge to crimea, and then dig in to hold it.

I think that was a bit harder than they thought, but eventually took it, then dug in, built trenches, mine fields, set up artillery, etc. and are now holding it as Ukraine throws what they can at it.

A year ago everyone was saying Russia was about to run out of ammo, food, men, etc. A year later, this is the headline just now from CBS and CNN. Not Gateway pundit, Epoch times, Tucker Carlson, etc. The people posting all these clips of isolated combat showing the rubes getting pwnt are simply not living in reality



Listen to CNN talk about the mines and trenches. Compare it to what you may have seen in this thread, where you would think the trenches were in the middle of whatever, useless, and Russians are being obliterated by their own mine fields.

BTW with Finland ruSSians were wrong when they started to threat Finland not to implement EU approwed sanctions otherwise russia will do some special measures.

I completely disagree. At the start of the invasion the Russian army attempted a US style combined arms invasion which fell completely flat on its face when it met some resistance.

What is happening with the counteroffensive is a completely different topic.

fair enough, I just don’t see how they could think to hold a country that large with a lot of the western half of the country being anti Russian. Would be clear over extension, especially with what would be heavy urban combat with insurgents.
