Movies Romeo Must Die (2000)

I love Romeo must die. I’ve seen it so many times. Saw it in theatres when it was released. I still love the bone shattering scenes where they put the xray effect. And the sound track was great.

As posters mentioned it was rather crazy a kiss with Aaliyah didn’t do well with the rest audience, but that could be a rumour and it was most likely r kelly doing some shady shenanigans behind the scenes. Or it could have just been a black audience not liking to see an Asian man kiss a beautiful black woman. Who really knows why it didn’t test well. 🤷‍♂️

I remember being excited about this because I liked that 1990s TV show "Vanishing Son" with Russell Wong. Also shortly before this I had just discoverd Jet Li and other HK action movies.

I ended up being disappointed in how it was basically a silly comedy. I thought based on the trailer it was gonna feel more like a John Woo movie, or like the Vanishing Son show.

The three Vanishing Son movies were great. Solid story, fantastic fight scenes... Too bad the subsequent series fell apart.

Detroit looks exactly like it did in Robocop and I'll hear nothing to the contrary!

Well yeah, and the Crow too, but it there was plenty of slums and abandoned buildings in the D for them to film authentically...and nobody would've cared if they blew anything up.

Reminds me of the Kiss movie "Detroit Rock City"....filmed in Toronto....

Ah yeah I was referring to the movies. In my memory it was a miniseries with parts 1, 2 and 3.

I actually forgot about the episodic series that followed.

I watched it only to see the fight between Jet and Russell Wong, though the football game was a fun scene. Russell Wong never got the break in Hollywood that i thought he deserved.

This x 100%. Russell Wong was great in a show in the 90's called Vanishing Son. Those who don't know or remember it was a block of shows as part of the Action Pack along with Hercules and Xena: Warrior Princess. As far as the movie goes I liked the movie but I don't really care for Jet Li.

It will sound biased but after watching martial arts films from dubbed Chinese 70's films, 80's Van Damme and Hong Kong films to mid 90's films like Rumble in the Bronx I always felt like Jet Li films were kind of a downgrade.

You saw dubbed Chinese 70's films, 80's Van Damme and Hong Kong films and 90's films like Rumble in the Bronx and your take away was bisexual Van Damme? We are talking about action films but the action I think you are looking for is on another site (no judgment here).

Side note, Bloodsport is still more of a fun movie than other Jet Li films.

Fist of legend, once upon a time in China, Fong sai yuk, Taichi master were all classic martial arts movies. I'm missing a few other good ones here?

They put him at Jackie Chan level, a tier above Bruce Lee as far as I'm concerned.
