That's because the role was originally meant for her. She had some kind of falling out with Prince and so he cut her out of the project, and hired a clone.

I did not know who she was until a post apocalyptic B movie titled Neon City starring Michael Ironside was shown on a sci-fi B-movie marathon late at night some weekend during the early 90's. I did not have much going on during those days, so the Monster or B movie marathon weekends were extra special occasions. I will always associate her as being a part of those memories.
