What did Orban do? I saw something about him criticizing Zelenskyy a couple weeks back, but that's incredibly meh as far as I'm concerned. The Ukraine thing was adopted by the woke brigade and turned it into a cringe-fest quick fast. I'd say the aforementioned Sylvi Listhaug (as a cabinet minister) handled the crisis quite well and I have mad respect for my twinsie -- but Norway is not officially part of the EU (and deftly voted down joining twice) so it isn't under the same sort of pressures that the Visegrád countries are.

Yeah, I went to sweden and worked construction there for 3 months. Made enough money to be able to rent my first flat in Riga, while working a job with shit pay when I came back home.

Funny enough there's about two million people all over the globe who can get their Hungarian citizenship in a few months.

Liberalism isn't about being nice or a pushover. It's best core tenets, at least in my view, of tolerance and equality aren't universal values. Seeing as many, if not most people are consequentialists, then the dilemma becomes how to preserve those bedrock principles when faced with those willing to use those same values to subvert them? And this is where it comes in handy not being a nice liberal. What kind of absolute idiot thinks that people willing to use your kindness against you will just cave in if you just try really really really hard to be an even a bigger pushover? You gotta have survival instincts if you want to survive, right?
