Man, say what you want about Tito Ortiz, but he showed incredible heart in that fight. Imagine being as dominant a champion as he was, then getting thrown around by a 40 year old and beaten at his own game, and yet still fighting back off his back and surviving to the final bell.

Classic fight. Couture spanking him was legit. Think that and the first Liddell fight were his best.

"That guy is my hero!"

Tito did show a lot of heart. Dominant bully wrestlers typically don't fare well when they're taken down. Tito was outgunned, but he kept fighting. I remember thinking it was over when Randy mounted him (3rd round, I believe), but Tito lasted another 10-15 minutes.

One of my favorite one-sided 5-rd decisions ever.

Tito got dad dicked

I remember before the fight everybody on Sherdog and all the MMA forums were saying Randy was going to gas and how Tito was going to win with his cardio and youth.

I remember being worried about Randy before the fight but he was never in trouble once! Pure domination! He never got tired either. Randy was in crazy good shape around 2003 and 2004

And he does the same thing to Jones
Assuming Jones isn't juicing
People don't put Randy in the GOAT spot because he wasn't as athletic and fast as other Champs
He proved by fucking up liddell and Tito in theor primes

It's an amazing fight. The shock of Couture doing that to Ortiz must have also added to the spectacle when it happened live.

Randy gets mount with 2:35 left in the 4th and rains down punches for a good half minute, but Tito defends, ties him up, and gets away by kicking off the cage.

Titi should get zero hespect.

He avoided Chuck for 5 years and "defended" against Elvis "Rock and Rumble" Sinosic.

Dominant champ lol
Sure, he didn't fight anyone good other than Wanderlei, but that doesn't change the fact that he was the most dominant champ in UFC history at the time. Still, he beat Wanderlei fucking Silva.

*insert GIF of Tito running from Wand*

Still dominated him for 24 minutes though.

Great fight at the time, and it was such a great time to be an MMA fan.

Avoided him yes, but still stood right in front of him and traded with him in a very even fight until taking that awesome, classic 20-punch blizzard from the Iceman. And still had the guts to fight him again and split the first two rounds with him before another TKO after taking tons of punishment. The dude is an icon of the sport, love him or hate him.
