Rewatching Ortiz-Couture

Avoided him yes, but still stood right in front of him and traded with him in a very even fight until taking that awesome, classic 20-punch blizzard from the Iceman. And still had the guts to fight him again and split the first two rounds with him before another TKO after taking tons of punishment. The dude is an icon of the sport, love him or hate him.
I respect your admiration of Tito.
Havent rewatched in a decade.

Titi should get zero hespect.

He avoided Chuck for 5 years and "defended" against Elvis "Rock and Rumble" Sinosic.

Lol, he only avoided him for under 2 years. At the time, it seemed really bad, especially because the UFC only had 5 weight classes (and two of the titles were vacated). But. If you excuse him for the Shamrock fight (which is fair, because I'm sure the UFC wanted it much more than Tito/Chuck), it really wasn't too bad.

Great fight at the time, and it was such a great time to be an MMA fan.
It was epic but the only thing that was weird to me was how Randy got to kick Tito's ass before Chuck did.

After Tito ducked Chuck for so long I really wanted Chuck to be the one to dethrone him.

Butt of course Tito ducked so long they had to make the Randy/Chuck fight. And then of course after Randy won they had to make that Randy/Tito fight next.

Oh well. Still great times.

He always had tremendous fighting heart.. I wish he had gotten to fight more of the greats in his prime. But so many of them were in pride.

It's an amazing fight. The shock of Couture doing that to Ortiz must have also added to the spectacle when it happened live.

Randy gets mount with 2:35 left in the 4th and rains down punches for a good half minute, but Tito defends, ties him up, and gets away by kicking off the cage.
I was sure Tito was going to win. Tito was such a dominant wrestler. I definitely respected Randy's chances after he smoked Chuck, but I still just couldn't imagine him beating Tito. It's funny to look back at the ignorance.

I remember before the fight everybody on Sherdog and all the MMA forums were saying Randy was going to gas and how Tito was going to win with his cardio and youth.
I remember being worried about Randy before the fight but he was never in trouble once! Pure domination! He never got tired either. Randy was in crazy good shape around 2003 and 2004
Titi and his flaming shorts always got destroyed whenever he fought any top guys of that era....Titi was really good and beating undersized opponents and old man Ken Roidrock.

Oh please he fought Chuck twice get over it. Had all of the pride guys been in the UFC at that time, Tito would have fought them all. And beaten some of likely your favorite heroes.

Kind of ironic he used "The Natural" as a nickname.

I believe he was 43 in this pic. The Natural.....

let it go. Tito was a real champion.Perhaps now, in hindsight, the greatest champion.
Tito was a real clown......still is....just watch his interviews. The greatest champion?? WTF man? You must smoke crack with a cracked skull.

Listen man, maybe you can't count, but tito has more title defenses than chuck. he proved he was a true champion more times.

Tito wasn't the same after his injury. His losses are forgiveable. Chuck was knocked out standing by both Rich Franklin and rashad evans. 2 guys not known for their punching power.

chuck beat tito, I concede. But tito has had the better career longevity. He should have a win over Griffin too.
