Rewatch Rewatched Lawler VS Condit

I also had Hendricks beating Lawler in their second fight but most people hate Hendricks for trying to stall in the last round so it doesn't bother them.

If anything he kept his power but his ground game began to wane IMO. We no longer really saw him go for submissions, just trying to throw shots frm guard. I will say that after his fight with Lawler, everything faded after that. No killer instinct, no hunger, same basic combinations. I do agree on that.
5 finishes in 20 ufc fights.

His finishing ability didn't fade in the big show, the level of competition went up. And still has a number of classic finishes in the UFC. Condit was as lethal of a finisher as anyone up until after the Robbie fight. Then he was officially out of his prime.

You know who else has 5 finishes in 20 UFC fights? Johny Hendricks.

Even Robbie Lawler only ended up with 6 finishes in his prime UFC run.

Turns out it is really difficult to finish people at the highest level of the UFC.

So the stopping power wasnt there right? Leads back to my premise...

I am a NBK fan let me preface that otherwise I wouldnt have a vivid memory of a loss he had to Martin Kampmann. At least he got his revenge thankfully

Who hates Hendricks? He was a proper JBG follower. His lack of effort to train and cardio are the only thing that might piss people off. After GSP stole a win from him dude just lost the eternal drive

I think Condit inarguably won on the 10-9-Must-System, however, just watching it as a whole it could have gone either way.

Condit won, always thought this. Can't remember what I ate that night, but I watched this fight at the Hustler Casino in Gardena. I've also thought Hendricks beat Lawler in their rematch too, so there's that.

Condit has the greatest WW chin of all time. Surviving inhuman shots in the 5th without being dropped even once, and never knocked out cold in his entire career of 51 pro fights.
I remember Woodley landing some flush haymakers on Condit too, but the only thing that got him down was that leg injury.

Easily the biggest robbery of all time for me. Nothing else even comes close. Lawler did absolutely nothing for 95% of this fight. The only reason he even won the rounds he did is because he threw a few wild punches in the last 15 seconds. This was the only time I’ve ever been shocked when a decision was read.

Robbie had the best round of the fight in the 5th. Easily Condit could have gotten the decision though, and yes maybe he should have.

Nobody accuses Lawler or Hendricks of not having finishing ability and yet they had a similar finish rate. That was my point.

There is no way Robbie Lawler won this fight Condit should have won 48-47 an all time great fight and it’s my favourite fight of all time but Lawlers title run should have ended that night

Round 1 goes to Condit a lot of output lands way more then Lawler

10-9 Condit

Round 2 goes to Robbie Lawler he clips Condit on the feet and starts to wrestle him

10-9 Lawler

Round 3 goes to Condit same as round 1 he just lands way more significant strikes

10-9 Condit

Round 4 same as before Condit took this round as well

10-9 Condit

Round 5 goes to Lawler, 5th round Robbie Lawler as they say he clobbers Carlos towards the end

10-9 Lawler

Overall

48-47 Condit, judges did not get this correct

I watched it last week also. I agree.

Don't forget this:

If the Condit Vs Hendricks title eliminator had been 5 rounds, Condit would have smoked him and the entire WW landscape would have been very different.
