i'm 48, i give myself 7 years as a hard deadline, i want to be retired by then. i would be pretty well off financially.

My goals are to have a nice little place near the sea with a view to use occasionally. and to watch a serious amount of live sport whenever i feel like it. like, if i was retired right now I'd be at 3-4 One Friday Fights nights per year. i'd never miss a big boxing event I wanted to see. I'd see sh1t-tons of cricket, and when I'm not doing the above I'll be banging hot younger women- I'll fucken pay if necessary**, I really don't care- and reading books.

Plan on selling my house, moving out of state as soon as my kid is 18. Sending a massive “fuck you bitch” balloons to my ex’s work (if you can call it that) when he turns 18 and I don’t have to pay her anymore

This is exactly what I did except I was in Nevada and have NVPERS. Sold the house in 2022 and sold/gave away all my furniture and exercise equipment and garden tools. Rented a U-Haul pod, packed it up and left Las Vegas forever.

I worked for CA state for 4.5 years. My plan is to retire from federal and go back to the state for 1-3 years. That way I can collect my pension and have it based on a much higher salary. So at retirement I will have FEHB pension. CALPERS pension, social security (hopefully) and all the money I invested in my Roth IRA and TSP. Same with my wife. She wants to retire from federal when she hits her 30 year MRA and then go back to the state for a year. It's possible we both can live off our pensions/social security alone and just take RMDs on our TSP and her old 457 plan. Let the wealth build and pass on to our kids.
