It was his hardcore fans that accumulated the hate towards him, I don’t think anyone dislikes him as a fighter but his fans made him unbearable at one point, especially during the Nurmagomedov lead up.

Don't underplay his technical skills though. Some fighters, like Fiziev, are lauded as highly technical, yet Gaethje will always be a brawler. Clearly that is not true, though he can be both.
