Resident Evil 3 Remake

I imagine we'll get a remake of 4 as well which badly needs it imo. I know that comment will probably get some flack but I went and tried to play it on PS4 recently and the controls are terrible. A fresh coat of paint and modern controls could really do a lot to improve that game.
RE4 doesnt need a remake, its perfect with the remastered versions. I dont know why you think it badly needs one...
The version on the newest gens has 60 FPS and higher resolution. The PC version has a beautiful high res texture mod. It really doesn’t need anything. Looks perfectly fine and plays fairly well. I hope if it ever does get remade it’s a ways off. Dino Crisis next, maybe Code Veronica eventually, but I want to see RE8.
A remake for RE4 has to come when there is a big jump in gameplay standards etc, I dont know what the could do to improve the game other than maybe the pacing for the later portions of the game and maybe removing some bit and bobs. I still think its the best paced game ever, I wasnt bored for a single moment in that game.

I remember renting this game first night it came out and playing like 8 hours straight until we beat it. Loved that game. Definitely getting the remake.

RE2 is on sale on PSN and I was strongly debating picking it up.

Yeah, and honestly, I think we already saw what an evolution of that game looked like with RE5&6. RE4 came out at such a unique time for the franchise, where every little thing that game did, seemed fresh and original...until about two years later, when a bunch of games aped it's style and improved on it. It's half the reason RE5 didn't make any waves.

I think the only way an RE4 remake would be worth it, would be to build it from the ground up from the original vision, which was more like the traditional RE games. Keep the story and characters relatively the same, but craft it into a true survival horror game, and get rid of the dated TPS action gameplay, that was once so fresh for the franchise.

Will pre-order ASAP.

RE2 was exactly what I wanted out of a remake. Hopefully mercenaries will be touched up nicely too.

I felt the exact opposite. It was exactly what I didn't want out of a remake, for it to implement generic game mechanics.

People who dislike prerendered backgrounds can F themseleves. The devs could have added 100 times the detail to the environments if they didn't go full 3D. To this day, RE 0 still looks amazing and the details are stunning. In 5 years, RE2 remake is going to look like absolute crap and the game mechanics will not save it from aging like a teen who overtans.

Not worth it. Even if Capcom did that, they still wouldn't match the texture details of the 2 guys who have been actively working the RE4 HD project for over 5 years. I've kept an eye on these guys from the beginning and their attention to detail is second to none.

Sucks. Your loss was my gain.

Nah, we're past the point of cruddy 3D environments being an issue. It was rough at first, and I still think that pre-rendered backgrounds were a hell of a trick back in the day, that really made games pop with a lot of detail, even if it was a bit of an illusion. That said, 3D environments of today are insanely detailed, and are damn near photo-realistic. They're not going to improve much down the road, to the point where you look back at the RE2 remake and think it looks like a pile of shit, like you would with an N64 game and all of it's blocky and muddy textures.

I agree , but I also don't like GoW4 or HZD much.

Gamecube's RE1 remake was awesome, to the point a lot of people that loved the original and director's cut would probably rather play it instead. It's pretty much the same game with better visuals and minors tweaks, and an added boss a lot of people loved. One of the best remakes ever, it's how a remake should be done.

The RE2 bullet-sponge zombies totally ruined it for me. If I'm taking the time to stop, point blank shoot prone zombies in the face with a shotgun after dropping them already, I really don't want to see them get up again. If I don't miss any shots to the head, I should be able to kill 2 zombies with 15 handgun rounds and 8 shotgun shells.

I know, I'm playing it wrong, and I'm supposed to run around everything all the time. But damn it, it's RE and I liked blowing zombie's heads off.

You really are a shitty poster.

Your opinions are ass.

I loved both the REmake and the new RE2. I can't say for sure which I prefer. I think I like the old school fixed camera style more than the over the shoulder camera. They both are great for different reasons but when I'm playing Resident Evil it feels more authentic the old way. I seriously doubt they'd ever go back to it and I'm okay with that.

Psyched as fuck for this one..wonder if this will wait for the PS5

Nope, it won't be a PS5/XboxWhatever launch title.

Capcom's RE team have released two quality titles on this generation of consoles, RE7 & RE2make. Given the quick turnaround between RE2make and RE3make, much like their Ps1 originals, they're probably aiming for this to be current generation only.... at first.

If Capcom is smart and likes money, they'll be looking at releasing RE2make AND RE3make on the next generation consoles, in one package, eventually. I'd bet around a year after the RE3make is released.

Hell, they released the REmake and RE0 on one disc. Smart move on their part.

And I bet they'll take advantage of the next generation's hardware and software to make it 4K, 60FPS, and with minimal load times.

100% speculation on my part, but I've been speculating since before RE2make was released Capcom would also remake RE3 if the sales charts indicated huge interest by gamers, and they got huge sales which indicated huge interest.

Well either way I'm just stoked that they decided to do these remakes. My favorite out of the series is RE2 (fucking love the remake).

These are truly special times boys. Especially if you're a video game and horror fan.

Enjoy that shit while it's here.

3D environments cam be extrememly detailed yes, but they sure as hell aren't in RE2 Remake. The environments are very basic and generic for the most part. Take the S.T.A.R.S. room for example. In the original games. There was all kinds of stuff on the walls and laying around to examine. Now compare it to the remake.

There is a reason why you can't really examine stuff in the new game. It's not because it's an obsolete gameplay element. It's because there is jack shit to actually stop and look at individually.

That's not really about graphics, or detailed environments though. That's game design. The remake could easily prompt you to "examine" all sorts of shit, it just didn't. It really has nothing to do with any sort of limitations. It's purely by design.

The only reason you examined everything in those games is because you didnt know if what you needed to progress was under a file etc. Game design has evolved, and lets face it, how many playthroughs do you think w.ere wasted because someone didnt completely run back to grab a medallion in a place you wouldnt expect it to be etc.

Lets not also forget that each "detailed" room had about 3 things you could examine that was vaguely interesting, Id say there were far more interesting rooms in REmake 2 as a whole than compared to the OG. Stop looking back or the glare of nostalgia will ruin improved experiences for you.

Id say Remake 2 is maybe slightly bit better than the original in some ways and lacks in others.

“Examining shit,” what a weird thing to prevent someone from enjoying an excellent game lol.

My favorite RE game. Got it for Christmas back in the day. Also just picked up RE2 on PSN sale
