Resident Evil 3 Remake

RE3 Nemesis was the first RE with a 'Hideous and tough monster that could jump out at any time to wreck your day' component.

RE3 is my over Tank-Control survival horror game because Nemesis was the first, and still widely considered the best RE monster.

The first time playing RE3 on Hard and not knowing when he would make an appearance jacked up the tension of the entire experience. It wasn't just hard because of Nemesis, it had more enemies and more of an 'Action-Horror' feel in comparison to the other games of the series at that point. You're constantly low on ammo and health, so when Nemesis jumps out (and they were actually very good jump scares) and you know you're completely fucked unless you run away, and running away from him isn't exactly easy... he runs faster than you.

Several posters will say 'Nemesis wasn't shit,' yeah, everyone eventually figures out where he's going to jump out at, and you prepare for those occasions, and you figure out the timing of his attacks... blah blah blah, but that's with every damn monster in every horror game.

But that first playthrough of RE3 is one of my favorite horror, and video game, experiences I've ever had.

I really hope the RE development team learned from the feedback of Mr.X in the Re2 remake and will make Nemesis fucking terrifying like he was for that first playthrough of the PS1 RE3.

I'd play for the special edition of the game just for that.
Curious what the “feedback” was for Mr. X.

By most accounts he was a huge hit and scared the fuck out of people on their first play throughs. There were whole YT videos of people reacting to him popping up and ruining someone’s day. He was more or less a joke in the original game, save for the last boss fight. They improved upon him in every way.

Now if they just make the mr x gimmick less annoying, that would be a must from me. Liked him at first, even scared, then his ass got old quick. Ended up being a total fucking burden.

I hope the wieners who complained about Mr. X stay far away from this one. Nemmy gon give it to ya.
You know me quite well.

on one hand, i hate remakes/reboots.

on the other, re:3 was awesome and probably my favorite of the series.

Yeah I'm not big on remakes either but some of my favorite games are from the PSOne/N64 era and a lot of those games from that era don't hold up too well so I'm ok with it in this case.

Im so confused.

Mr X is like in A scenarios for less than 30 minutes out of 8 hours.

RE3 is the my favourite of the old school REs. I'll get my freeze rounds ready for the cunt.

The best games in the RE series are literally remakes of the older games....

RE has the most consistently great games in a franchise other than maybe Zelda.

The one scene Im waiting for,

Was just discussing RE cannon in the Black Friday thread with @FloridaCracker and thought this thread would be best to move the discussion to.

With Resident Evil finally getting a second wind behind with RE7, the REmake/RE0 ports, RE2make, and now RE3make... after so many shitty sequels like RE5 & RE6.... I'm curious what everyone's opinion should be regarding what should be considered cannon.

After RE3make, should Capcom feel obligated to then make a remake of Code Veronica? I bet the development team would be itching to finally move onto something new in the series... so how would RE7 fit into the timeline, and its eventual sequel?

RE4 is beloved, but its a very self-contained story and didn't move anything forward. No remake neccessary.

Code Veronica was good for the year 2000, but I'm not quite sure how a remake would benefit it.

So what's your thoughts?

Better get a remake of the Outbreak games.

0-7 (including CV) and the 2 Rev games are canon. Survivor is technically canon too since Sheena Island is mentioned during 0's intro.

*Sigh* Yeah, but there's alot of shitty RE games on that list that don't add much, if anything, to the overall storyline.

My question is what should be considered cannon now?

I imagine we'll get a remake of 4 as well which badly needs it imo. I know that comment will probably get some flack but I went and tried to play it on PS4 recently and the controls are terrible. A fresh coat of paint and modern controls could really do a lot to improve that game.

Wouldn't say it needs a remake, but it certainly needs an actual 'Remaster.' This generation would have been perfect for the graphics to have given an overhaul with updated textures, resolution, and locked 60+ FPS.

The enemies could be faster with better tactics to work as a team to swarm you from all sides. Since the game is full of 'infected' who are supposed to be semi-intelligent as opposed to zombies it would have been nice if they were smarter than zombies.

But overall it doesn't need a full remake, its a classic that has been ported to freaking everything over the last 15 years.

True. I think he was a hit with players who kind of knew what to expect in a true survival horror game. I think there's a healthy dose of the other side though, that found him to be annoying in parts of the game that they were expecting to give them a breather.

Truth is, I think you have to be a certain kind of fan, to really appreciate an enemy like that. I can see both sides, but ultimately I side with the folks who loved his inclusion, because at the end of the day, he really puts the "survival" in "survival horror". These games aren't supposed to give you room to breathe. You should be on edge at all times.

The version on the newest gens has 60 FPS and higher resolution. The PC version has a beautiful high res texture mod. It really doesn’t need anything. Looks perfectly fine and plays fairly well. I hope if it ever does get remade it’s a ways off. Dino Crisis next, maybe Code Veronica eventually, but I want to see RE8.
