Did Soukamtat just totally drop the ball in the third or is it possible he realised O'Malley was badly hurt yet didn't want to win by an injury? Personally I find the second option very hard to believe, but it was equally hard to believe how he kept going for the takedown as O'Malley was literally jumping on one leg. Two more kicks, or even just doing anything standing and that fight was over.

He threw the fight away.

I think the guy is just a flat out moron, along with that performance he actually thought he had won. Solidifying how stupid he is.

His corner was miserably bad. I’ve heard people claim his corner told him to stand it up but he either doesn’t respect them or he’s a genuine moron.

so hes empathetic and stupid?

At first I thought it was poor fight IQ. However, if you think about how he acted the entire fight, you could tell something fishy was going on, he's a genius for diving on top of O'Malley.

I was rooting for the guy, but it was terrible from round 1. Zero confidence, backpedalling badly, zero technique.... That 3rd round was for sure he lowest fight IQ that i´ve ever seen in a fight. Even worse than Paul Harris.

There's only two explanations for his actions:

1) He's the dumbest person to ever step foot in the octagon, or was concussed so much he was on autopilot and couldn't hear his corner screaming for him to stand up.

or, equally plausible:

2) The fight was fixed, to boost up O'malley and give him a highlight reel. R1 was for showcasing his spinning shit, then he went through his whole repertoire of submissions in round 2 to show he had a ground game, the finish was supposed to happen in R3 but an injury wasn't part of the plan so in order to ensure the right guy still won, Sokamtat had to lay on him for 3 minutes to prevent a doctor stoppage.

Soukhamthath was concussed and resorted to what he knows best, even while hopping on one leg against the cage O'Malley tagged him.

Well a fix would make sense narrative-wise, but in hindsight you can see a fix in a lot of fights and this one looked pretty clean - Soukamtat was throwing some heavy shots in the beginning of round two. It wasn't like Kimbo vs Shamrock were a decade-old vet forgot how to finish a RNC. Personally I believe the guy had no idea what he was doing or how hurt O'Malley was.

Regarding O'Malley himself he does look like an interesting prospect. I just wish he'd shave his head and grow a beard because both the jewfro and the cornrows makes him look like a complete dweeb.

No clue.... Let him back up... then on one foot Sean was punching him. Strange man... very strange.

what is disappointing is that Andre hasn't addressed the issue, AFAIK - he posted thanks to his fans, but that's about it.

it would be nice to get some insight into what he was thinking in that moment; otherwise, it is hard to assume anything other than "horrible fight IQ", no?

He's either one of the dumbest fighters of all time or he was seriously concussed after the first round. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and call the latter because I refuse to believe his fight IQ is that bad.

Sean was kicking his ass with 1 foot lol. The dude was just outclassed and was hurt. He didn't know WTF to do.

Probably the dumbest fighter I've ever seen, the momentum is on his side and yet he didin't capitalize on it.
