MT/KB Japan Recent fights/results/news from Japan II

Krush main event

Wow, what a fight ! Kondo is only 17 years old and only has a few pro fights under his belt. I was thinking mismatch at first, but he deserved the shot. Thought he had Kimura in the first round after the knee, but no cigar.

Genji Umeno fight from today. Hands looking surprisingly sharp.

Karaev_fan blessed us with subtitles for a mini-documentary about Takeru leading up to K'Festa 2.

Tenshin supposedly fighting an pretty good boxer Koki Kameda, who you guys got?

Is this kickboxing, boxing fight or an exhibition boxing match? There were rumors about Tenshin fighting Gervonta Davis a couple months ago lol. I get that the Mayweather thing from a marketing point of views but if he is doing his boxing debut against a multiple weight class boxing champion it's quite bizzare.

Kameda hasn't fought since 2015, but he's only 32 and I'm sure has the skills to do what Mayweather did all over again. Maybe Tenshin's getting bored of Kickboxing or trying to prove something? Don't see why he keeps wanting to fight killers from Boxing.

It's a Boxing exhibition though, but I don't know if it means it's going to be public sparring or a real fight like the last one

What's the point with these exhibitions? Hoping that Tenshin can get a highlight reel KO and then make him transition into full 12 rounds boxing? He could just build up his resume and move up in the rankings and get a title fight, like Jomthong Chuwattana did.

I really have no clue, my only guess is that he wants to prove something. I could see him doing well if he transitioned to Boxing, but like you said he should just approach it the normal way instead of taking one-off exhibitions with elite opponents.

I don't know much about Japanese culture, but I heard before the Mayweather exhibition that one of his reasons for taking the fight was related to Japanese pride and a 'never back down' mentality that comes with it. I can see that with a fight versus an American, but that reasoning loses me a bit when he's fighting another Japanese that will likely spark him out quickly or just outclass him.

How well would Tenshin fare on UFC in your opinion?

Not sure, theres lots of rolling around in UFC. But if an MMA guy tried to strike with him they would probably end up like Sage Northcutt.

How do you think a striking fight between him and Conor McGregor would go?
