Lol these threads always get derailed once aronized pops in with a Fincher or Zack Snyder reference

I don't even want to say anything more about that, because a card will surely be in my future sir lol.

I have good taste, that doesn't make me a snob. Especially when i enjoy popcorn flicks like MCU, James Bond etc.
It does when you begin to consider your opinion better then others

DAAAAAAAAAAAMN

You gotta be humble man, you're what, 22 or so. Respectfully, you still don't know shit. Live a couple more decades and then see how correct you were at this age

I am on your boat sir, let us sail away from this mess lol.

"I'm correct, almost every time"

Yeah you're not a smarmy douche at all.

Not that, I just have more experience on the subject than you. That’s it.

I don’t consider popcorn fluff to be great or masterpiece, it means I know how to judge based on quality, rather than enjoyment.

Yikes

Most literary and film criticism is all bullshit word painting and using slick bullshitting to literally fit any interpretation of whatever you want in a movie. Quick example:

Billy madison is a story about the perils of growing up and the struggle between comfort and fulfilling ones potential. In the bathroom scene the swan represents the super ego of Billy judging him and his man child ways.

See all BS

You say that; when you wouldn’t distinguish, a follow shot, a POV shot or a dolly shot or know what’s sound bridge or overlapping as editing

Yikes. Obviously a critic knows far more than me or you.

This is false, and just your opinion.

You have studied cinema history from silent film, to new Hollywood, nouvelle Vauge, german expressionistic period?

So you know everything a director has to do to stage a scene? Everything to do with the camera? I don’t, either.

but atleast I try to be informed and read up things from reliable sources.

Tombstone was panned by critics

Ah so you're a cineaphile. I've only been accused of it.

You also said Rocky twice. Movie experts don't make those kind of mistakes bud.

Not a cinephile. Just someone who is interested in films not only for entertainment.

I still watch animated shows regarding anime or superheroes.

I am not an expert, but I ain’t a casual either.

I have read various essays, books, reviews and learned how to rate films objectively based on various critics and directors.

Tastes are subjective, quality is not

Whatever you like it or not; Memento's directing, editing and story structure is excellent. Tombstone didn’t bring anything new unlike it or fight club.

You sound like a stereotype of a pseudo intellectual film nerd, who knows a lot of technical terms, but can't explain in your own words what makes them good.

"Film A is better than Film B because of its editing, cinematography, and directing."

"Give a detailed explanation of why those aspects are better than film B."

"Umm, well, like, just look at it. The quality is higher in those aspects."

Lulz

Tombstone is aces. 9/10.

Ad hominem yet nothing supports the thesis that this overrated film is a 9, lol.

Want to know why I think Fight Club or Memento are actual great? Ok, lol

Memento which is practically a treatise on nonlinear editing: still today it is considered one of the peaks of neo-noir and perhaps a masterpiece and has enormous cinematic strength for example by choosing a different formal register depending on the type of situation it wants to describe, with POV or semi-subjective shots in black and white to show that what we see is the result of Leonard's point of view, with distant shots to give an objective approach to what Leonard looks at or reads.

The contrast between objectivity and subjectivity so dear to Nolan is evident not only on a thematic level but first of all on a stylistic level, which, as I said before, serves to communicate a content.

It is cinema, not an illustrated genre film. On top of that, the directing, editing and cinematography is top notch.
