Obviously false and shows you are joking because if you were serious, that would mean you don’t know how to judge acting or films

I dont think you do. You act like critics are some kind of scientist using double blind studies to figure out what makes a film good.

Criticism is a subjective art that has some guidelines based on different schools and style of it, all of which are subjective themselves.

Voted 10 because it's an all time classic of the genre. 10 doesn't necessarily mean a movie is perfect in every way. No movie meets that criteria. But we're discussing it 30 years later and people still love it.

Ad hominem yet nothing supports the thesis that this overrated film is a 9, lol.

Want to know why I think Fight Club or Memento are actual great? Ok, lol

Memento which is practically a treatise on nonlinear editing: still today it is considered one of the peaks of neo-noir and perhaps a masterpiece and has enormous cinematic strength for example by choosing a different formal register depending on the type of situation it wants to describe, with POV or semi-subjective shots in black and white to show that what we see is the result of Leonard's point of view, with distant shots to give an objective approach to what Leonard looks at or reads.

The contrast between objectivity and subjectivity so dear to Nolan is evident not only on a thematic level but first of all on a stylistic level, which, as I said before, serves to communicate a content.

It is cinema, not an illustrated genre film. On top of that, the directing, editing and cinematography is top notch.

It's as if you're making my point for me. You get your opinions from other people. You don't actually have a clue what you're talking about. You're a lemming who just nods in agreement with anything that sounds smart, regurgitates it, and then smugly act like you actually formed that opinion. You are such a stereotype.

I had you pegged in that stupid "Objective/Subjective" thread you made, where you repeatedly failed to grasp the concept of either term. I'm gonna go out on a limb, and guess that you're some 20-something wannabe script writer, who just started taking film seriously a year or two ago. Am I close?

"It is cinema"...ROFL. Could one be any more pretentiousness?

Cinema has objective things which are called techniques. There are rules, in the editing and directing area.

The rule of third is where to place actor while composing the frame...

180 degree rule is to make everything coherent.

Do you realize critics are reliable even while they might not be 100% correct every single time.. there’s a reason why films like inception, zodiac, get out are acclaimed and put in various lists?

Its true that taste is subjective, in fact there are untouchables films like godfather which are masterpieces for everyone and films where we can discuss whatever one is better. Same applies to directors.

Are you kidding me? That’s not an editing or directing mistake but a simple goof, every single film has them, if you don’t watch a scene slowed down or go watch it in detail, you probably will miss it while watching a film.

You are a troll, and that’s a bad joke, lol. I argue why those specific technical elements are better.

So you're saying the director has no responsibility when shooting the film and making sure there are no mistakes for the final product isn't a bad flaw in the film?

Its an overrated film with a great cast but that's literally all it has going for it. There's only 2 great scenes in the entire film, Michael at the restaurant and Michael at his son's baptism.

The Kevin Costner movie? That was terrible!

You're entitled to your opinion but I'm truly shocked. I've never met anyone that thought that Wyatt Earp movie was better than tombstone
Costner was the more convincing wyatt imo. And since it's the same basic story, and he's the main character, I felt it was better. Still a great movie though. And I rate them very closely.
Kilmer is GOAT doc Holliday though, and it's not even close.

I would invite you to go read quotes from authors and filmmakers who talk about some of the BS claims some critics have made and analyzed about their work.

Idk. You can tell the bullet doesn't even go through mo greens glasses. It barely affects them. Directorial mistake.

Not to mention brando's lazy overacting and the weird voice he does the character in where it sounds like there is peanut butter stuck on the roof of his mouth. Also the whole Italy digression with his wife.

Its a good film but it's no live and let die.

Brando is one of the most overrated actors of all time, please don't get me started. James Caan as well. Have you ever seen Thief? If you ever have trouble sleeping at night do yourself a favor and put on Thief. Michael Mann is another overrated hack who made 1 good film and has lived off it ever since.

Godfather II was even worse. De Niro winning an Oscar for speaking Italian? Ooooooooooooh.

I posted the video so you could understand what I say, dummy... I do not work or aspire to be a director or writer. Some people have hobbies. You know?

I wrote it myself. I know almost everything about the film and director (it’s my favorite)...

Nolan's poetics, which revolves around revenge, anxiety, inner torments, psychological conflicts etc ...

If I had to summarize this poetics in a single word, say that Nolan in all his films pursues the same poetics, that is, the poetics of obsession.

Following = The obsession of a failed writer, who chases people, trying to steal something, to find the source of inspiration. He becomes a doppelgänger.

Memento = Leonard's obsession with finding his John G. We all have a John G. to dedicate and spend our lives to, we all have a personal obsession. We all lie and ourselves to feel better. The obsession with Leonard is necessary to live (given his memory ...), without it, he would have no purpose.

Insomnia = Dormer's obsession with the gesture he committed, and cannot sleep for this reason, he is ashamed of what he did.

Batman Begins = Bruce Wayne's obsession with avenging his dead parents.

The Prestige = Angier and Borden obsession with creating the best makeup, both ultimately to satisfy their own obsession and ego, sacrifice everything. Bourden wife and his brother, Angenier all his friendships and eventually sex ...

The Dark Knight = the dynamic of two fallen heroes, and their justice against crime.

Inception = Cobb's obsession with returning as a free man home to his children. Also reality/dream

The Dark Knights Rises = Bruce's obsession who is chained to the shadows of the past (Rachel's death) and who can't get rid of them. Batman has been a part of his life, but he can't get out of that condition, wanting to take the cape and hood again. After Bane's defeat and coming out of the well, Batman manages to free himself from the dark obsessions of the past to face Bane in daylight, clearly showing himself in front of everyone.

Interstellar = guilt and remorse about the human race.

It’s not properly used in the last two films which are more heavy concept.

Lol his Italian was hilariously pathetic.

Theif was laughable. Caan got acted circles around hihim by jim Belushi

Good catch. Plus the blood took forever to pour out of his eye. That's not believable at all.

Who is the best Belushi (which isn't saying much) Caan has been loving off Bonnie & Clyde for decades. How he got any work besides the color of his skin is a great mystery.

Godfather FTW
The Dark Knight FTW
Tombstone FTW

I doubt this is what you truly believe. I don't need a YouTube video to tell me how Godfather is boring.

I guess elf was okay only because Ferrell saved the movie.

Straight up looked like the blood capsules they sell for vampire costumes

Further showing how pretentious and terrible Coppola is. Just like when Sonny gets shot 200 times but doesn't fall down right away. Just another example of Caan being a can.

Will Ferrell could be a better actor than Leo imo if he just took himself more serious. But I think he gets paid more to be silly so I can understand that.

The dark knight is one of the most overrated super hero films of all time but that's mainly due to Nolan.

If Ledger doesn't die, that film wouldn't haven't been successful in anyway.

Take out Jokers 30 mins of screen time and that film is easily 4/10 at best
