I agree with everything in the 'modern' era. Surprised at your ranking of the original trilogy.

I would have it as thus:
1. Return of the Jedi
2. A New Hope
3. The Empire Strikes Back

I would also understand someone who saw the films when they first came out (or near enough too) having A New Hope first due to nostalgia and thats what started everything for them, etc.

Please explain why Empire Strikes is your fav.

Please explain why Empire Strikes is your fav.

It just feels the best directed to me. It's well paced, has outstanding effects and cinematography and has great interplay between the three main characters. And it's when it's revealed that Vader is actually Luke's father which is one of the most ingenious, insidious twists in movie history.

Empire is everybody's favorite and gave rise to the notion that a sequel can be better than its predecessor. Empire is pretty near perfect.. Although it would get tore up these days, sadly.

Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith

The last of the first 6 Star War movies directed by George Lucas. To me, it was by far the best story and movie from beginning to end. By this time, Lucas had all the money and special effects technology he needed. The other 5 movies had some that were good and others that were absolutely horrible. All 5 had portions of the story that were poor unlike the 6th movie.
