im trying to fugure out why you used ten posts to say all that

I'm trying to figure out why you spelled "figure" wrong... but I'll play your game. I wrote in sections because long posts usually get overlooked. I'm just trying to help the guy... good job being a hater

every farang gets scammed in thailand, sometimes they dont even know it.

That's funny - I tend to overlook shorts posts (like this one) because they rarely contain anything of substance...

mumrik,quality matters,not quantity.
some people can right a book and not get a clear point across, others can do it in a single sentence.

Anyway, my long post a few pages back didn't get any play, so maybe this is the way to go :D

I'm very untrained when it comes to proper striking and am looking for a gym to spend two months at starting with basics. Sinbi, Dragon, Tiger (probably not) and Patong Boxing is in the mix at this point.

Does anyone have any experience with Patong Boxing Gym?

Fightpassport seems to love the place and there seems to be an absurd amount of 1-on-1 with the trainers.

I heard its a great gym. I've been in contact with Bill(fightpassport.com) for a while now. Also a few guys from my gym here in Canada have trained there.
I'm going down there for two months

whats Bill up to? is he still stuck back in Canada? when's he going back to Thailand?

I'll be at Patong Boxing Gym around November 5th, and will train there until a little after January. After I'm going to go train at a more hardcore gym in Bangkok, 13 coins the home of Saenchai.

Bill is good , I was just talking to him a few hours ago. He's just being held up getting his Visa...

They've changed a few rules for the applications and the embassy here in ottawa has gotten super strict. I would expect him to be back in Thailand sometime in September.

If you check back through the posts in this thread, I seem to remember reading some posts by a person (sorry, I can't remember the screen name) who has trained at quite a few different camps in Thailand, that said, they continually wind up back at Sinbi, because of the excellent training.

I was checking Sinbi's website (as I am sure you already have) and the gym and instructors look top notch. I am sure that person who made the posts could give you a lot of information on that camp, as well as quite a few others. Sorry about the memory lapse on the screen name.

yup, it was primarily Ryukyu and gotobread and their experiences are part of what put Sinbi on my short list. I have Tiger as the (too) safe bet, Sinbi and Patong Boxing Gym as my primary interests and Dragon as the outsider that I'll probably be looking into more. I'll probably be contacting Bill from fightpassport regarding Patong, but there seems to be so little feedback on the place that I'd like to hear from more people.

I'm still at Sinbi at the moment. Gotobread just left a few days ago. If you have anymore questions, let me know.

Two things really:

1) I know all camps will train beginners, but is it your impression that Sinbi (unlike a place like Kawsamrit) is a good fit for someone who is a complete beginner in the MT/boxing context, but has other martial arts experience and is a "good student"? Fundamentals and basics are the goals here.

2) How personal is the training? Compared to the other camps you've been to, how much time do you get 1-on-1 with the trainers?

I'm getting a positive impression of Sinbi - Patong is the one that I really haven't heard enough about (even on muaythailand there is more or less no feedback on it) but there seems to be a great deal of personal training..

Finishing my last week here at Scorpion and heading to Samui next week.

Has anyone trained at WMC Camp in Koh Samui?

Before I begin, I would like to applaud you for being street smart enough to check your restaurant bill. My parents (whom are Thai) don’t even do that, but the rest of my family, my girlfriend, and I do. I think most Thais in general check their bills.

Nice reply, but I think you interpreted the scenario and atmosphere a little off.

As was mentioned, the atmosphere was cordial, we were chatting, and I doubt he will scheme to cheat me of just 5 baht.

The point is, I had to be so frugral with even 5 baht because I genuinely had not sufficient money left. And one of the main reasons was just the day before C had asked me a hundred over baht to drink.

It was mainly about the loss of face I caused to A by telling him to recalculate(And he had it wrong). C had no business to jump in and call me a miser begger because he was the reason why I had to be frugral in the first place.

So now I am just wondering would C had sought revenge if I were able to speak back, causing him ,C,to lose the most face of all, because he will then be the most ungrateful bas**** who forgets who gave him things, instead of a saviour who jumps in to others' rescue.(As I said, later they were not altogether in the same place or others were around). Your answer that most likely he would not answered the post.

If you show dedication, you will get a lot of attention. Something as simple as showing up 15 minutes early to skip a little extra will catch the trainers eye and they will put in a bit more effort in teaching you.

The personal training is very good. Pot or Det are two of the best trainers. Pot his a very good teacher and speaks english very well. His kicking and punching style is very brutal but his clinching is very technical. He breaks down the clinching techniques in best of all of the trainers I have worked with. Pot fought Buakaw twice and was ranked higher than him at the stadiums.

Det is a bit smaller than Pot and was a Rachadamneon champ. He is all about technique and speed. He has very pretty Muay Thai. Here is some video of Det working pads for the Korean fighter Su Jeong.

My trainer this year is Eyat. I normally have Pot as my trainer, but some how I was paired up with Eyat this year. He has a totally different style than Pot. He only stops to correct you once or twice, then bashes you until you fix it. He's not being a dick by any means, but is much more hard on me than any of the other trainers...except maybe Met, who is all business. This is my third time at Sinbi and fifth time in Thailand, if I can't remember to avoid/block/catch a round kick to my body by now, I deserve to get bashed...lol I guess it paid off because I managed to block or avoid gotobreads ridiculously hard right kick when we were sparring :) hahaha

How much does Eyat look like the Thai Dan Henderson? Right down to the jacked up ears. It's scary.

Anyway, on my last day of training there, I worked with Bao, who I had never worked with before. That dude was the shit, and I wish I had worked with him earlier as I probably would have hired him as my trainer for the duration of my trip.

P.S. - Way to flake out my last night in Phuket and head up to Patong.

Thanks for the input Ryukyu. Sinbi remains a very likely pick for me. I'm just a bit anal about researching all this in advance :)

As in paying extra to get personal training outside of the normal training periods or how?
