my massage parlor is in australia

Great thread guys, lots of useful info in here.

Im going to Thailand in about 6 weeks, training at Scorpion in Pattaya. Has anyone trained there before? I read on fightpassport that the training is good. Spoke with Rosalie, the owner, she's been very helpful.

Btw, are there any shuttle from Bangkok airport to Pattaya?
I arrive at like 11pm, was thinking about just paying a taxi to get there.

Yea bro, i'm going to be at Scorpion June 26th till July 25th.

A taxi ride is about 1200 baht and will take about 2 hours. Maybe less at that time of night. I wouldn't even bother with a bus. You will spend 700 baht on a shitty hotel on KSR and then another 300 baht for the bus.

ya that's what I thought, thanks

nice, Im arriving only on july 18th thought, well maybe we'll cross each other on your last week :D

Are you finding a room by yourself, or are you taking the one Scorpion is offering?

what should I expect to spend on water in a month since I shouldn't drink tap water? how much is a bottle of it usually?

A big (1.5 liter?) bottle of water will cost you less than 20 baht.

damn that adds up though, probably need at least 2 gallons of water a day with the humidity, thats around 120 baht a day! Almost 100 bucks extra a month just for water? fuck, breaking the bank for someone like me.

any one get any tattoo's in phuket? or have any thoughts/advice? i have looked through some artists work and they have some skills for sure

You can get a big 6 liter water bottle at 7-11 for 32 baht. I go through about one of those a day. You can also get one of the huge 20 liter water jugs for cheap.

Yeah I've had a bit of ink done in Phuket, there are a number of very hygiene conscious and talented artists located all over the island. When you're in Phuket let me know , I'll get you a deal. :)

If you're interested in Sak Yant though, which are Buddhist tattoos that you see a lot of Thai muay thai fighters inked with , you should take a day trip to Bangkok to get them done and blessed. I mean a regular tattoo artist can do one that looks the same with a machine, but getting a bamboo tattoo is an entire experience that needs to be done the proper way.

i plan on getting a few while in town:). i will be up there the 20th and i have one maybe two already pretty drawn up that i plan on getting, and then in august they have the asian martial arts games. i am looking for reason to travel up to bangkok anyways for a day or two and plan on possibly getting a more traditional tattoo done while I'm in bagkok. that might be it although I'm considering getting one other by the time i leave in sept-dec. haha.. i dont think i will though, that seems a bit much

Could someone break down the different areas of Thailand, like Chang Mai, Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket? I've been plan on training at Scorpion in Pattaya for a month but I'm not a party guy at all. I want to experience Thailand and there natural beauty when i'm resting on Sunday but it sounds like Pattaya is a huge party town. I want to be at a great camp where I get a lot of great 1 on 1 instruction, train twice a day and be in a safe, clean area where I can be by a beautiful beach. Thanks, thinking Phuket/Patong is where I should go and train????????????

I have never been to Chiang Mai, but my understanding is that it's a bit more rural. I'll let someone who's actually been there comment on it, however.

The other areas (ones that I've been to) in short:

Bangkok - Large, busy, urban area. Certainly not my style, but there is plenty there worth seeing. And if you're going to Thailand and train seriously rather than "party," it would be embarassing for you to skip over Lumphini and/or Rajadamnern. As for "nightlife", with Cowboy and Nana and the soapies, all of your bases are covered. The girls are much classier than Pattaya.

Pattaya - About two hours east of Bangkok (by car), it's a very crowded and dirty tourist trap full of girly bars. I hated it. From what I've seen of the beach there, it's pretty small. The bars are pretty skanky, so if that's what you're into, this place is probably heaven (as it is to fat, old tourists).

Phuket - Some of the most beautiful beaches on the planet. You're most likely talking about the Chalong/Rawai/Nai Harn area, which is a very laid back area. Plenty of beaches. There's still nightlife in Patong and Phuket City, but nothing like Bangkok or Pattaya.

Again, that's the short version. If anyone wants to elaborate, knock yourself out, but that's really all you need to know.

As for tattoos, I'm pretty well covered and I personally wouldn't bother. I haven't seen any tattoos done in Thailand that impressed me.

P.S. - No offense intended to anyone that's been tattooed in Thailand or is looking to be tattooed in Thailand. All of my tattoos are done in a very specific, old school style, and it's not really something that I've ever seen successfully replicated in the area.

Here are two of my more recent tattoos, just to give you an idea of what I'm talking about:

I'd love to check out some fights in Bangkok. Here are my reasons and maybe you can recommend the best gyms for what i'm looking for.
1. Training, I'm here to become the best fighter I can become. I want great instruction and as much 1 on 1 attention I can get.
2. Safe and clean area where I can find good healthy food nearby.
3. Somewhere it's beautiful, clean safe beach area if possible.
4. Easy access for travel to and from Bangkok(airport).
Thanks!
