I forgot to ask. During your hiatus, lapsed fan was covering one of the coliseum videos on Bruno so they deep dove his brief return in the 80’s.
Bruno said in his shoot that they had a scheduled match for him and Hogan in ‘84. I’m talking on the marquee with the tickets sold. His story was Hogan just didn’t show up to the building because he was terrified that Bruno was in such good shape that he was gonna blow him up and embarrass him. Sounds like a classic wrestler tale to me. Work or shoot?!
Im actually surprised that Bruno would lie like that but that is 100% work, never happened, never thought about happening, never, ever, ever possible in a million years!
Why in the world would Vince take his hot new superstar babyface that he planed to take over the world with and immediately match him up against the biggest babyface star in the history of the WWWF(up until that point) it is the worst possible choice to launch a new star you could possibly make LoL
Do you know what shoot that was from?
Bruno kayfabed heavy in his early shoots but got a little more open before he died
Vince did want Bob Backlund to turn heel and go against Hogan in '84 just so Hogan could crush the former superstar champion because that wouldve been a huge deal in the eyes of the old school fans that still "believed" and it wouldve helped get Hogan mega over, although it turned out he didnt need any help anyways
Backlund refused and went into retirement for 10 years til he did reappear is a heel in the 90's
